Some of my best friends are Indian(hindu). I think people who are born in the west are so adapted to having many cultures and religions around them, which allows everyone to get along with each other. I guess we look more at the person and similarities in personalities rather than religion. It is always an added bonus that my best friends and I can speak the same language and have common interests!

I hired a Hindu into my team once. Was the religion a factor when I hired her? No.

What mattered was:

Top performer with an excellent track record, brilliant professional and highly motivated. Her previous manager was actually pissed at me for a while because I took away her best team member.

I have a similar experience. A Swati Pakistani works for me and i love him. I trust him more than i trust my gora employees. In fact he is the only desi employee i have in USA and he is my main man.
Bond of our culture is stronger than hatred of boundaries or religions.

Yes I get along with Hindu and people from other faiths very well. I think..as noori explained..we look for similarities rather than looking at religion. One thing we do is avoid any kind of political discussion.

I get along with them fine. I treat them the way I’d treat a white person or a brown person or a black person or a pink person.

I know people might hate me for saying this but…out of all the people that come through my doors at work…the best employees were Hindus.

Honest, on time, responsible, good work ethic, etc. We had problems, sure. But you have to find a balance…just like you would find a balance with a staunch Catholic you were working with or any other faith.

An Indian asked me at work “So which part of India are you from”. I said I’m from Pakistan. He said “that used to be a part of India”. I said “Ok cool” and I walked away hurt… Now i’m crying…

All the Muslim professionals I have worked with have been perfect gentlemen. And absolutely brilliant. Haven’t interacted with Muslim ladies. For that matter, Hindu ladies either.

This question is obviously for Pakistanis living outside Pakistan in the diaspora. Do you get along with indians (or hindus to be more specific) in the real world outside the internet forums? How do you interact with hindus at school, university campus or workplace??
I am deliberately using the word hindu because the animosity between Pakistan and India is seen in muslim-vs-hindu terms in both countries. Muslims may be around 14% of india’s population but there are hardly any muslims in india’s armed forces.

I dislike hindus and at my current workplace there are no hindus. But i have worked with hindus in the past and in that situation, i try to be tactful and avoid any discussion about politics or religion. If a hindu at work tried to initiate any discussion about these controversial Pakistan-vs-india issues then i did not tolerate their BS and was ruthless in my response. Otherwise i try to avoid any interaction with a hindu unless it is completely unavoidable.

I was in high school during the kargil conflict in 1999 and there were even fights between pakistanis (including myself) and indian students because of that.

I am ambivalent about sikhs even though there are lots of sikhs in the indian army. I have noticed that the sikhs living in UK and North America are either Khalistani and very anti-india or they are very patriotic about india and hate us. The sikhs in the diaspora seem to have a schizophrenic mindset.

Answer to your title: Whats a big issue about getting along with Indians or any other religion’s person at AnyWhere??
I’d rather be more choosy to be with someone who is a good human than concentrating on who belongs to which religion!!

In highschool we had this biiig group friends. Indian(Hindu) and Pakistani. We had amazing time and created so many memories. We are still friends even after everyone went their separate ways. The ONLY time our group split was when a Pakistan vs India match would be happening lol. At that time we we were strictly Pakistani Indian.
As many people mentioned before, I too never look at anyones race, religion, natonality or caste when interacting with people. Just as I would never want anyone to base an opinion of me because I am a Muslim and that too a Pakistani Muslim.

In my personal experience I have found Indians to be very Pakistan centric and many are full of poison against Pakistan. They never hesitate to insult personalities that are respected in Pakistan like Allama Iqbal, Jinnah and Nusrat Fateh Ali but don’t tolerate any criticism of their own people. I have seen this behavior in most Indians with the exception of those from Punjab and Muslims.
There is one group of Indians who are always saying things to me to prove that Pakistanis all over the world are nothing but thieves and they are inventors of all kinds of frauds, but when i say in response that Indians are no angels either, they take it as an insult.

I know not all Indians are haters but it is impossible to know what type they are when you first meet them so I try to keep distance from all Indians to save myself from this kind of trouble.

My best friends are Indian Hindus. Get along amazing with them. Those who say that Hindus are against Pakistanis and such, maybe the older generation is ? The youngsters who have grown up abroad are pretty chill and have no qualms about having pakistani or Muslim friends !
