Yes, my two best friend are balochi..i see their lifestyle very simple..mashaAllah..no dekhawaya..and i appreciate i dont if this is the culture in punjabies agar unhy kuch deya jaye tu wapis burten mein kuch bhar kay he dety hain khali burtan nahi wapis karty..

I think this tradition is common (or used to be a decade back) among all communities specially in rural areas. Did saw Sindhis following that, even recently our Urdu speaking neighbors in Karachi do follow that.
