Saby, and I'm sure people wouldn't have had too many objections because Meera and Humayun Saeed weren't part of an Indian movie.

Sadiyah, you're suffering from this huge "we should be like the rest of the world" complex. The fact is Pakistani movies are and remain on the periphery of the netertainment scene, a gallup poll showed barely 3% went to a cinema in the last 6 months. TV is mainstream, and so is theatre to a certain extent. We don't have kissing, skin-show [barring some lewd CD performances] etc overthere. And by skin show I mean the kind of nudity Meera has revealed in Nazar.
And neither shall people admire the actresses who do this. It doesn't really matter what the Indians care or don't care about -- we have our own standards and values to live upto. Specially when you're showcasing your country in a foreign territory, you have a lot of responsibilities to live upto.

That movie was actually banned, with a hidden purpose, along with a court stay order waiting the next day, just so that people would be lured into going into the theatres and figuring out what was so obscene about the movie. If I remember correctly, Humayun forced Meera, they didnt show much, but they were succesfull in depicting a ‘rape’ scene.

bollybuster, all I'm saying is if we have problems with what Meera does abroad, then we should also have problems with what is shown in Pakistani movies and often dramas.
Please do not come back and tell me the dramas aren't bad. I don't think I'd be able to watch many of the dramas with my grand parents around. Old Pakistani movies were still sensible, as compared to the ones that are made these days.
The same people who are up in arms against Meera should also hold protests and rallies about what gets shown in Pakistani movies. It's been a while since I've watched a Pakistani movie, but the one that I watched long time ago had quite a lot of skin exposed. Some larki lying on her stomach with her legs exposed around or a lil above her knees.
