DNA Testing - Puzzle!

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

Ok you guys are quite close. Hints:

He didn't get someone else's blood transfused into his body intravaneously.

When the nurse took the blood sample from his arm, she did say "it doesn't look fresh!"

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

i think i got it. the doc was bitten by a vampire on his shoulder the night before. and his arm had slowly started to go rotten.. but the rot hadnt quite reached his fingertips just yet.

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

was something done to his own blood sample in vitro? [before the nurse took a sample]

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

:d6c:

No, the sample was not tampered with at all. He did something before they actually took the sample from him.

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

:nahi:…this is called a ‘chusssss’

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

did he add ethidium bromide to it :halo: jk.

ummmm. hm.

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

Transfusion i.e. someone else’s blood transferred to his body intravaneously, right? Well in this case, only the bold bit is true. How? :khumar: (we’ve already said it wasn’t tampered with once taken out of his arm).

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

umm.. he stuck a blood bag in his armpit, and stuck the needle into his radial artery, all inside his shirt? :\

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

so you're saying he transfused his own blood from cold storage into his arm...it was not fresh..... tied a torniquet...took the sample.............umm how will the DNA not change then?

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

^it doesnt matter if it was cold...it would revert to it's original condition given normal physiological conditions i think...sooooo. another hint plzz?

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

hmmmmm no. but very close.

Exactly. DNA doesn't change even if tested after a bazillion years. It wasn't his blood at all.

Shall I give you the answer?

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

he inserted a tube of someoen else's blood down his vein

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

i know. i knowww.

by mistake i wrote the NOT here. ofcourse the dna doesnt change by cold storage or even eternity!!

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

hint>????

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

Yayyy! Correct answer!

The doctor is John Schneeberger. “He implanted a 15 cm Penrose drain filled with another man’s blood and anticoagulants in his arm. During tests, he tricked the laboratory technician to obtain blood sample from the place the tube was planted.”

Forensic files did an episode on him, you can watch the explaination from 17:35 min in this video: http://www.forensicfiles.com/bad-blood-2.html

Sounds like a smartass but he really is living a life of a loser after being released from prison - divorced, stripped of canadian citizenship, stripped of medical liscences and deported to South Africa to live with his mother.

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

OMG I WAS SO CLOSE :D

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

that’s thor to you, kid. :smokin:

Re: DNA Testing - Puzzle!

On a serious note, the finger tips are supposedly more accurate than other places that you could test. But this guy has already his own ways how to fake the DNA. Good job but unfortunately, he really have to face the consequence of what he did.
