Re: Difference between polki and kundan Jewellery

Wow that is really helpful mahismart, thanks! I finally get it

no we dont ALLLLLLLLL have it wrong. that was how it USED to be, however these days polki is still uncut diamonds and kundan is not only the STYLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE but when speaking of kundan jewelry it is usually glass pieces that are used in the jewelry not diamonds.

these days if you go to jewelers and ask for kundan jewelry they will pull jewelry out with that style with meenakari on the back and the stones would be glass, not diamond unless u specifically ask for polki.

geez! u dont need to put down everyone in this forum because u claim to be a ms.know-it-all.

nooo they are not diffrent.

actually.....deceds ago when only the Maharajas used to wear kundan jewellery...then it was only made using polki(diamond chips..cut and polished)set in gold sets.and they called it kundan meena polki jewellery.

but now a days...those chips are madeup of some new things like.....zircon...glass..and sm i dnt know...

so that jewellery costs less and looks same...
i knw this all...coz i got my wedding jewellery made by a jeweller who is from bikaner..and he told me all this.

and believe me...those jewellery showrooms there...cost us tooo high as labour charge..like.....25%...or 30%..of the total gold used in it....but i got that in 15....with lifetime buyback guarunteee...

he was a jewellery manufacturer from whom some of the jewellers buy
