more importantly does it mean our nuclear assets could be taken out or atleast partially destroyed by anyone using the same methods. What is the guarantee that something like this cannot or won’t happen in future…pretty scary if you think about it

US helicopters entered Pakistani airspace making use of blind spots in the radar coverage due to hilly terrain. US helicopters’ undetected flight into Pakistan was also facilitated by the mountainous terrain, efficacious use of latest technology and ‘nap of the earth’ flying techniques. It may not be realistic to draw an analogy between this undefended civilian area and some military / security installations which have elaborate local defence arrangements.

Then why do politicians and military officials say things like our country's assets are safe because they are n't!!

No one incl. the developed world has an answer to America's superior intelligence technology and capability

how about anyone at the military base half a mile away did NOT see or hear choppers coming in in the middle of the night and also did NOT hear the 'firefight' that ensued for 40 min...???

Have the mods also gone asleep at their jobs like ISI, since this forum is a mess with dozens of topics discussing the same issue? I know Americans could do that whole nape of the earth flying and jamming radars to get in and out, but how is that possible on a forum?

Possibly. Could also be back doors in American systems employed by Pakistan.

But nothing explains the inaction while these helicopters hovered around the compound for hours (not the 40 mins that people keep quoting...)...

The U.S choppers would not have jammed the radars. That would have been a serious disaster for the Americans.In that case their target' would have been informed of the impending attack bysome elements' and the whole operation could have been foiled. What happened would have been an operation with a limited knowledge of Pakistanis....

I believethe Pakistanis might have been informed of the attack but it would not have been told them that Mr.Laden was the target.This is where I would couple the name of Mr.Patak (the Indonesia terror suspcet who had been arrested fro Abbottabad).The U.S agencies would have misguided Pakistan that a prominent terror suspect was hiding in the area and they needed the help of Pak authorities.But once the operation was over, Islamabad was taken by surprise with the news of Mr.Laden.

I do not believe all the I.S.I elements would have been aware of Mr.Laden's whereabouts.Had that been the case,he would not have lived there for such a long time.
