…Qandil’s bald statement drove home a very sobering realization: **in 2005, I still cannot name a single Muslim leader (or a journalist, or an intellectual) who has publicly acknowledged the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a dispute between two legitimate national movements. **

One side dreams of a world without Israel, the other sees Israel as a major player in the democratization and economic development of the region. Will this clash of expectations burst into another round of bloodshed?

My heart goes out to all the Europeans and Americans who believe they have found a spark of flexibility on Israel’s legitimacy in the progressive Muslim camp. But looking ahead at the plentiful attempts to build bridges to the Muslim world, one wonders whether this outpouring of goodwill should not first be harnessed toward hammering out basic common goals and educational campaigns to promote them, rather than glossing over oceans of fundamental disagreement. Failure to address uncomfortable differences has a terrible way of extracting higher costs later on.

Good article Verizon. The tribal upbringing of Arrabobs will never allow them to settle down and live in peace. The blame goes specifically to Egyptian intellectuals. Egypt produced and nourished Yaser Arafat, the true source of instability in the Middle East. For any other society, Yaser Arafat would have been kicked out long time ago. The guy led his people from one disastor to the next.

The same Egyptians triggered the war in 60’s by kicking out UN, and blockading Gulf of Tiran. The same Egyptians started 73 war and ended up with humiliating encirclement and utter defeat of their army.

Sadat paid the ultimate price by losing his life. For what? Saving Egypt and bringing some sanity to the conflict?

Soon there will be MAToo rule in Egypt and the next round of punishment at the hands of Israel. I fear from the MAToos in Pakistan too. Right now they are killing Pakistanis and creating anarchy. These MAToos will not rest until every country in their reach gets burned down to ashes.

Look at Afghanistan, Somalia and Iran. Iran used to be the world power. Even with oil, it is now a begger state. High un-employment, crippling rules by Mullatics, no hope, and continuous cold war with the West will turn this country to another Somalia.

However Summun Bukmun (Deaf and Dumb) of Pakistan will not learn.
