No, shame on you, He has the blood of thousands of Afghans and Pakistanis on his hands. He not only helped create but is supportive of the jihadi monster that is beheading and blowing up pakistanis today.
At least these jihadi terrorists are given the choice to surrender or die, the same choice they do not give their victims when they create their own interpretation of Islam where showing cruelty and barbarism are the right things to do.

this war was not unleashed on pakistan it was a war for pakistan's sovereignty. pakistan had to fight it. if it had not been fought who knows soviet forces would have been entered in pakistan.

It was America, who was sponsoring the war long after Soviets had left after planting its puppet regime in Afghanistan with the man in charge being Najeebullah.
And it was the very pro-US scholars, who are accusing the mujahideen of being terrorists and khwarij, who passed rulings that Najeebullah's regime should be fought because he is a puppet of the Soviet's, hence he is a kafir too.
US continued to fund and support them, and they weren't labelled terrorists until much later. So there you go, your stupid theory of 'free french' doesnt work here because....We are no french!

Mujahiddin did not only consist of Sunnis and Pathans. There were people from all walk of life and thoughts. Without the weapons supplied by the U.S. (stingers and what not), Mujahiddin's will not have won this war. If you read about Afghan war, stinger was the main weapon which started putting strain on Russian war machinery. Let's talk about winning the war as well. Soviets would have been able to continue and sustain this war in Afghanistan indefinitely had their internal political situation allowed it. Also the U.S. got too involved and it was fruitless to continue with the campaign.
Who made Hameed Gul? ISI??? no? He did the job because he was asked to; like a good soldier, not because of his love of religion. Ask him did army give him the property he lives on and numerous others and did he reject to take them or did he take them. He is supporting suicide bombers; let's ask him if he is willing to send his own son and daughter on a suicide mission.

They fought a professional Army like the Free French did during World War II. When the Germans left, the Free French disbanded. These idiots did not when the Soviets left. They started fighting each other and launching terrorist attacks.
Thus, even if they fought the Soviets 20 years ago, that doesnt give them a free pass to conduct terrorist attacks.

Mostly, Afghans are a warring nation with little regards of human life. If they don't kill someone else, they start killing each other. So for most of them, it was a thrill of a life time to fight against the Russians. Despite what you may believe, religion is not a common ground between different Afghan tribes. Their nationalism is much more important than their religion. However, nationalism is not a common ground as well. There is no common ground at all in Afghanistan. The only common ground one can think off is that they love to fight (not jehad - just fight)
Child molestation and other unIslamic barbarianism is part of their culture and yet they are coming to spread Islam.
