Im really fed up of floral prints of Gul Ahmed, Last year i bought its cottan Silk which was an ethnic print and i did not like anything else from this lawn lable that offers wide variety among all of its competitors. I got 3 from Mausummary, 2 were with embroided patti and were really nice. I got one from ZQ, whose print and embroided sattan daman was great but after one wash its trousers' colour got fade leaving it in shape of tie n dye. I got 4 from Junaid Jamshed :D, few of their designs were not good but since last 3 yrs it has become my favourite brand in terms of quality and worth for price. Their khaddi suits are too good. AFter washing etc they are still great, i even have thier suits of 2008 still does not look old. Basically their designs get sold out very quickly and they are left with the designs which most people dont like. Yahsir Waheed is good too but did not get anything from them. I was so much after getting Sana Safinaz but when i came to know its available at Saleem Fabrics, they were left only with 2 prints :(. I want to try Maria B this time. And anxiosuly wiating for Junaid Jamshed collection.
@talkfashion , the quality of mausummary is really awesome and the best thing is their light colours are even not see through. I like this thing also about mausummary that they give even shirt piece alone if you want unlike of others. I have their suit of 2006 even with me, im fed up of it but its quality is still very good, no colour fade even. I will recommend, that do buy it.
We don't have such extreme and long summers here, 2 years ago when I was in Pak, I went mad and got many lawn jorahs ... wore most of them only once or twice and some are still sitting there to be worn, I have to say unfortunately I got short, normal kameez made as long ones were just starting then.
For casual home wear I have the best experience with Al-Karam Lawn, its a bit thicker than other lawns at least some prints were and I started wearing them at home and now even after 2 years the colour has not faded away or the kaprah got rough it still looks the same, tumbs up to them. Though the designs were nothing unusual but good quality with a reasonable price.
I yet have to wear quite a few from last year that are new, sitting in the closet 'coz of the mostly thanda weather.... for the same reason I want to be super choosy this time and get only what I am gonna go head over heels about, hence I have eliminated most of the brands and zeroed on SS and zunn :D huh.....greedy me
it is great fun to read your discussions about fashion and seasonal fabric and i must say it has been very fruitfull as well
i tryed maria B last year after discovering her designer lawn from this gs forum
and i loved the fabric ...its fabric quality of shalwar and qameez was nice and the designs/colours were exact like as they looked in the photoshoots
but you have to handwash it bc small amount of colour does runout in water but not too much
the other thing is the materials of dupatta. i was told by the salesgirl on phone that all the suit were with chiffon dupattas..i want you people first to define exact material when everybody says chiffon dupattas...
are they 100% pure silk weaved in chiffon or are they made of fine but still synthetic material...
when i hear somebody saying chiffon i think of pure material
2010 mara b. lawn collection had synthetic material for dupattas and NOT chiffon..they were not like
1.gul ahmeds or
2.lakhanis pure silk chiffon dupattas
by having them in order means the quality in this order as well
still i am planning to buy some maria B lawn bc i liked her prints and colour combos
i will second talkfashion please let us know the quality of jofa and mausummery
please give details of material as well for every brand lawn and their dupattas
i can see in the exhibition pics that dupattas are not lawn but are they pure chiffon or are they synthetic
the other thing is ..will jofa be available in lahore ...wat did they do last year ..was it possible to buy jofa in market in lahore
experts please step in ...proto i have seen a lot of assesments from you please tell about the fabric detail and availability....
i will be thankfull to every experts opinion
GA- fabric is good quality ; hate their love for floral prints
Al karam- fabric is good but the prints i love somehow are available in colours too bright for my taste
Zunn/SS=good quality fabric, not as good as GA/JJ but still better than the rest, nice prints, over-priced.
maria B=very nice prints, thicker lawn, more like cotton, non-breathable thick synthetic dupattas
Sobia nazir=crazy prices, bad quality of fabric
JJ=very good quality lawn but prints last year were not very stylish. their khaadi collection is nice though
mausummery= cotton type thick lawn fabric, good prints, love them because they are flexible with the quantity of fabric you want and donont push to buy 3pc for their prints
nishat=good quality, again love them because they are flexible with the quantity of fabric you want and donont push to buy 3pc for their prints
Good to read about such a lucid discussion. Let me also comment here on lawn and print quality. I will list down in the order i like them
Junaid Jamshed Lawn: Excellent Fabric, Colours do not runout in water, the piece of shirt is such in measurement that it can easily be made wide flared frock style as nowadays much in fashion, I liked various prints of it but some were not good. The only drawback is that they are not flexible in giving shirt or 2 piece. But its my favourite lawn. But they must increase their colour variety too.
Mausummary Lawn: Its material is a bit thick but not see through at all. Its difficult to wear Mausummary in humid weather. Its prints although have touch of Ambiyaans and small flowers yet the best thing I like is wide range of colour combinations and stylish designs. Moreover flexibility to purchase whatever pice you want adn also of our own choice quantity. The embroided pattis last year were a supplement to their traits. The colours of Mausummery are also very good, I have their suits of 2006 even with me still not faded away.
3.Yahsir Waheed Lawn: No one mentioned here about Yahsir Waheed. The fabric quality is again very good one and they also are not see through. Designs are much inspired by floral and ethnic genre. They also sale 2 pice or 1 piece too. However last year i felt that their designs were very much similar to designs of 2009 so i did not get any. However I still like it a lot. Their colours also donot get fade early.
Gul Ahmed Lawn: The fabric quality is no doubt best, but......... floral prints are so boring that I cant stand. However as far as colours are concerned from above 3 lawns their colours fade early unfortunately, as my Gul Ahmed suits dont last for more than 2 seasons.
ZQ Lawn: I liked prints and creativity of this lawn very much last year but to my disappointment the colour of the trouser that was skin brownish faded in a way leaving it with tyed and dyed form, although i will still go for it this year. I loved the Satin embroided pattis they introduced, the prices were reasonable
Aroshi Lawn: This lawn is not much sought after but as far as i have tried it its fabric is very good and soft. They also launch floral prints more but last year their prints were good with some abstratc designs. However colours fade early. Their swiss lawn is good too.
Al Karam Lawn: Except last year i liked its prints. Last year I only liked few. Fabric is good and the aspect I like about it is very creative 3 piece with excellent colour combimations. I did not buy for me but i bought for my sister whose color combo was carrot pink and chocolate brown alongwith embroided daman patti, she get it stitched and it was looking awesome. This time i will also look for it. However when i purchased it in 2007 the colour of trouser faded.
Kayseria: Its fabric is fine as we know Bareeze` is a quality brand, but i never liked its designs.
Lilac Lawn: Its fabric is soft but for last 2 years they are launching pathetic prints. I have their suits of 2007 still in very good condition.
Warda Lawn: Their designs have never ever inspired me, and colour combinations are not good too. Fabric seems fine but as i have not tried it so cant comment on it much

so far i have been really enjoying all the posts. i must say they r all very informative.
i noticed however, that nobody has mentioned lakhani. i ordered one thru Sanaulla the big store and really liked it. the material is see thru, becoz its swiss voile. but the dupatta quality is also good.
I also purchased a Sana Safinaz thru someone at GS. Dupatta was grt, however, the embroidery has started to come off in some places. it has small embroidered motifs all over the shirt and some are coming off. its slightly thicker material.
Thank you everyone. This thread is very useful. Any rough guides to prices for different brands? Just for ideas as I know most are not out yet.
How much were SS suits selling for last year?
^ if i remember correctly, around Rs.2850-3500. however, different shops were selling the same thing for different prices at the same time in Islamabad ... you had to be careful about where you bought from!
