For good karigars try **Kehkashan and Gulf. Both are pretty huge areas laden with tailors sitting there with there piles of bridal magazines, copying designs from every known designer in Pakistan. Almost everyone is good there. Make sure that you explain each and everything to them.
I don't remember the name but there is a shop in the inner lanes of Gulf that has some lovely Karma and Maria B. designs that were originally Rs. 1,00,000 plus and the karigar quoted Rs. 20,000 plus. The work was really fine but they don't bargain.
Kehkashan market, is across the road from Uzma shopping center in Clifton. Not exactly opposite Gulf but a bit ahead. Go to a shop named 'Designers' at Kehkashan as they are well-known for their stuff. The quality of work there is really good and closest to the originals we see every day. Remember, the prices are a bit steep, not ridiculous like the originals but affordable for those for have a starting range of Rs.8,000 - Rs.12,000. That is indeed a 'Designer Copy Dream place.'
You can also order formals from PLK, Tariq Road. I gave them my own fabric and they did the kaam. Again the quality of the work was really fine and I was happy with the result. They have loads of samples and you have to keep looking at the outfits to sort out the kaam you like. They also provides matching shoes and pouches/bags alongwith their bridals. I didn't ask whether they do that with their formals. You can also show them your design and they will make it as it is. BTW, their formals start from Rs. 10,000. Negotiate and bargain all you can. Ask for Farhan if you want to order.
A shop called NOOR zari centre on 1st floor Rabi centre Tariq road has very good work. Show the owner your designs and he'll make it for you with or without your fabric. His max price was around Rs. 20,000. I gave him my own fabric so each outfit cost me around Rs. 4,000. He does amazing sarees too. I showed him a sari that someone bought for Rs. 26,000 and he told me that he could replicate it for Rs. 7,000. I am thinking about ordering a few of my own.
The good thing about this one is that the owner takes care of everyting himself from dress material, colour, kaam everything At Gulf you have to be really standing on the kaarigar's head so that he doesn't ruin your expensive material.
Jabeens at Tariq Road, Shakeel's at Saima Center, Makkah Cloth house at Rabi Center and Bridal creations at Dolmen Mall Tariq Road are equally good. They mostly have made to order stuff but also have unstitched formal suits that you'll love.
Also, visit 'Mohsins' at Saima Center, Tariq Road for formal outfits. Haven't ordered from Mohsin but have seen their work. It is awesome! The outfits had fab kaam on them and they were priced from Rs. 10,000 and onwards for formals. I loved an outfit that was priced at Rs. 18,000 and he said that if I provide my fabric he'll do the same kaam in co-ordinating colours for Rs. 9,000. Still on the expensive side but I really liked the finishing and sparkle of the outfits. They have ready-to-wear outfits and made-to-order ones, too.
I also know a home-based designer who can make any copies. Her name is 'Fatima Aunty' and her contact # is 021-6348210.
Many of the talented GS designers are based in Karachi, so you can have a look at their collection, too esp. SairaJi and Cyma.
well but did any one order their bridal out fit from kehkashan...is there any particular shop there whose work is good...there are many shops there but not all are good in copying so i want to ask who is good and who i can trust
i got my dress made from papoosh market in nazimabad, karachi. they did an exact copy of a dress that i picked from a fashion magazine libas. while i was ordering my dress there were two girls standing behind me. one of those girls was discussing the wedding dress she wanted to get made. the guy who own the shop quoted her 1 lakh for the copy and she ordered the dress. i didn't know that coppies are not as expensive at the original dress. even my dress was made in 10 thousand rupies. i wonder if i paid too much.

yanzala..can you let me know the name of the shop where you made the dress
**Yes, yanzala. Please do post the address and the dress that you got copied.. Rs. 10,000 for a copied bridal dress is an amazing price. If the quality was fine then you got the best deal. I wonder why he quoted Rs. 1 lakh to the other girl. Papoosh market is really not expensive.
sara1989, go to a shop named 'Designers' at Kehkashan as they are well-known for their stuff. Their quality of work seemed to be the best there. The prices are a bit steep.**

mahi..do you think they would be able to copy bridal dress

i will def. post the picture soon. i just got back from pakistan and i have a lot of unpacking to do :(
actually he quoted 9 thousands originally but that was too much so we asked him if there is a way to get it made a bit cheaper he said that we can eliminate some of the kam, so i did that, after that the kaam costed us 5 thousand. we spend 3 thousand on the fabric, it was jamawar and shiffon. the stitching costed us 1000 Rs. because it was a bit tricky with linning and cutting.
the dress was great, but they gave it to me too late. about 15 days late. i actually got the dress on the morning of the weddig. at that time i was so sure that i might nto be able to get that dress at all.
so if u have enought time (atleast 2 months) order it. there othervise try readymade. because at one point when i thought i might not be able to get that dress on time, i regrated ordering it, i thought it would have been better if i had get it ready made because it a BIG headache to be making trips to the shop and making sure that we are getting the dress on time.
mahi..do you think they would be able to copy bridal dress
i think they can copy a bridal dress very well. any kaam wala can. but u need to have atleast 3 months and u have to be present there, and be able to make trips to the shop every two weeks to see how the dress is being made so if u don't like anything in the dress or if u think it's not being made exactly like the original u can ask them to fix it.
after reading my posts i just realized that i didn't mention that i am not talking about a bridal dress. i was talking about my dress that i wore on my brother's wedding that was copied from a fashion megzine libas.
but the place where i got my dress made from also does bridal. it's in nazimabad karachi market called paposh.
^ mahi that post outlining shops in karachi is SO helpful, thanks very much!! i'll be there in Jan iA shopping for my clothes and my sil's bari, so i'll definitely be hitting up all those places.
You are most welcome, SGC! I sure hope to do another round up till then and keep the info updated. :) Your SIL's bari would InshAllah be really pretty.

This Saima Tharani is a theif. We ordered 4 dresses from her on facebook and after she recieved the money, she closed her facebook account and stopped picking up her phone. No one should contact her.
Returned from Pakistan recently, grabbed their business card, but wasn’t able to get a good look at their collection. Mind you they have two stores on Tariq Rd. (this one is 1 level), there is another one which has a huge bridal collection downstairs.
