Re: desi restaurants and the community
Sadzzz what is the ambience like there? May be we can suggest ideas or volunteer to help her bring in more of her own clientele along with others with a touch up here and there…

Re: desi restaurants and the community
It could be because desis in Melbourne do not like to eat at clean places. Perhaps they prefer eating out at ghaleez and unhygienic places.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
i have a feeling it has nothing to do with the ambience.. as its such an awesome venue and very pretty, clean sitting arrangement.... it prob has more to do with the owner.. as shes part of the community..
i mean she already gets heaps of foreigners.. and indians too.. its just the pakistani community
Sadiyah, i dont think melbourians are THAT bad
Re: desi restaurants and the community
If she wants pakis, tell her to reduce the prices, the place will be packed with taxi drivers :D
We've got heaps of desi joints in sydney and most of 'em dont worry bout the decor and concentrate on the food and the prices and those rest do good among pakis
I mean why would I wanna go and spend 200 on daal and butter chicken when I can make it all at home under 20.
The whole decor and music nights and the light sattar playing and banarsi sairs adroning the walls is more appealing to goras.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
hahaha 200 for daal!!
yaar, we paid $80 for 6 people
Re: desi restaurants and the community
thats cheap!!!
I once paid 50 for two people and that was just takeaway so it didnt include the raita and the salad and drinks. The food was good though.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
yeah i thought it was real cheap too... we had like chicken tikka, sheesh kebab, briyani, butter chicken, raita and naan.. the food was delish
Re: desi restaurants and the community
shush, I am on a diet. Dont tempt me !!!
Re: desi restaurants and the community
no way!! why on earth are u on a diet??
Re: desi restaurants and the community
Maybe there arent enough bachelors in their neighborhood. The desi restaurants in NYC are mostly frequented by bachelors, who use the restaurants not as an outing, but as a source for their daily meals.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
Because desi people prefer to go to restaurants which provide a family enviornment. Some where they can go with their whole family and be loud and not care about table manners.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
I eat out at desi fast food joints all the time. But thats only cuz no one at my home cooks.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
hmmm... address please...
and yes,,, desi paki community in melb sux. atleast thats wat i found... for some reason, ive noticed the local families not wanting to mix too much with the students,, thinking they r some neech zaat.

That is all very indian the sitar and the banarsi saris. When we keep our houses nice and clean and decorate them too why wouldnt we want to eat at a place that is nicely done?
Re: desi restaurants and the community
That is quite odd for me Sadzz as the desi restaurants we go to are always busy and bustling w/ desi and non-desi folks.
Re: desi restaurants and the community
Hmm its just you aussies sadzz :p
We go out all the time..'used to' anyway. Even now when i go back to UK me and my friends always make it out a couple of times to desi restaurants. It is true there are more white people there than desis and the desis there tend to be young people like myself, friends out having dinner but i have seen loadsa families out on meals too. I guess elder desis do prefer the ghar bana loh ya mangwa loh than eat out .. borrring if you ask me.
