**Pakistan denies reports of demolition of Krishna temple **
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has denied reports that the Krishna Mandir in Lahore had been demolished to pave the way for the construction of a shopping mall.
Minister for Religious Affairs Ejazul Haq rejected BJP leader L.K. Advani’s statement on the demolition and challenged his remarks that minorities in Pakistan did not have religious freedom.
“Perfect condition”
``The Krishna Mandir is in perfect condition. I invite L.K. Advani to visit Lahore and pray at the temple," Daily Times quoted Mr. Haq as telling reporters on Thursday during a visit to the temple.
He said Rs. 7,00,000 was spent on the renovation of the temple a few months ago, adding that such statements by Indian leaders could affect the ongoing peace process between the two countries.
Supports statement
Krishna Mandir supervisor Pandit Kashi Ram, who was with the minister, supported Mr. Haq’s statement and said the government was spending money on the temple’s renovation.
He added that the government gave Rs. 10,000 for holy festivals including Diwali, Dusshera and Holi observed at the temple.
Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB) chairman Lt Gen (Retd.) Zulfikar Ali Khan also said the temple had not been demolished.

With Najam Sethi and Salman Taseer running the show, you don’t have to worry about their being a ‘mouth organ’ of the state either.
He should… He should come across the Wahga border, visit the temple, return to his country and announce the reconstruction of Babri mosque.

Was Babri a practicing Mosque??? Moreover it was an encroachment over Hindu religious places. I doubt how you would have tolerated such act for so many years???

I believe the fundamentalists Hindu had it converted to a "controversial" site and forced government to close it for all religious practices, it was not abandoned by Muslims.

Pakistan on Sunday denied media reports that Krishna Mandir in Lahore had been demolished and said the structure being referred to was not a mandir but an abandoned property.
“The only Krishna Temple that exists in Lahore is safe,” a Pakistan High Commission release in New Delhi said, quoting the 'Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).
Stressing that media reports on the temple’s demolition were factually incorrect, it said the Krishna Mandir was situated on Ravi Road in Lahore while the property under reference was in the Rang Mahal area.
"Both the sites are several kilometres apart, the note said, adding the temple was intact but its surrounding property was being used for residential purpose by 35 occupants of the ETPB since 1947.

Good, but some sections of the irresponsible media in Pakistan told lies again, which was bad PR for Pakistan. Such people should be put in jail.

it didnt actuly take place and such response before confirmation of facts!!!

the alleged news of Demolition was fake in respect to the Krishna mandir on ravi road which is intact. but it was misunderstanding from the news authorities. EPTB has ordered the making of plaza at other place wachoowali bazar which was dotted bytemples pre 47 but deserted and in ruins now. so it was demolition and illegal sale of old evacuee property not to be seen as an attack on temple..
