Re: Democracy, fundo-punditry and citizenry
Havent had time to read the full article but have noticed that Muslims in the UK are encouraged to vote for these type of parties purely because they oppose the Iraq war, what they dont appear to realise that as they vote for these people , their votes wont amount to much and whoever they are voting for are very unlikely to gain any seats because they wont be able to compete with the amount of votes that the other party candidates will receive.
This will help candiates from say the conservative party get a gain on, or win a seat in traditional Labour run areas.
Which is where the majority of these voters are being woo'd from.
Personally I wouldnt waste my vote on a fringe party with little hopes on getting a seat.
Secondly, i think its wrong go into vote people into parliament because of a single issue.
when the Iraq war is old news and nobody cares about them anymore and the Respect party or whoever is championing another cause like Gay marriages for example
what would you be doing?
sitting in your conservative run borough, dealing with whatever Mr Howard has to throw at you.
This post does NOT in anyway portray MY voting habits or views.
