Sister, mom, nani, par-nani. Dad, two brothers. It's coming, i know.
There's got to be something i can do to keep it at bay for as long as possible. I've done everything possible to eliminate all sorts of sugars from my life. In the last 4 years i have made these changes
- Reduced soda consumption to less than a can a month.
- Eliminated chocolates and other temptations to less than a serving a month.
- Reduced sugar in chai and coffee from 2 and half chamchay to ZERO.
- Introduced considerable intake of uncooked green vegetables known to help fight diabetes.
- Introduced myself to 30 minutes of exercise, atleast four times a week.
This thread if for you to post your experiences with tried and tested methods. Google has great answers but i want to see what desis are doing about it.
A real desi solution:
Introduce a bitter "karwa" taste product in your diet. Karela (bitter gourd) if you can take it, or fenugreek (methi) which is more palatable. Here is an idea how to take fenugreek:
Wash the fenugreek seeds and soak them for 24 hours. Rinse them and leave them covered in a bowl for 2 days to sprout. They will stay in the fridge couple of days once sprouted. Take one teaspoon of sprouted fenugreek seeds every morning. They taste less bitter when sprouted.
