Seedhi saadhi, I think, is either a good comment or a neutral one (I've never heard these words used in a negative way).
A seedhi saadhi girl is one who is simple in appearance/manners/personality. Does not look taiz/chalaak/devious. Doesn't look high maintenance. Doesn't have an agenda....is not manipulative. Is not shrewd. Could even be synonymous with innocent. Perhaps even gullible......................BUT the aunti that called you "seedhi saadhi" would have to know your personality to mean it in that sense. If she only said it in the few moments after she saw you for the first time..........she could be referring to your clothes/overall look. You're 6 months pregnant.....you're at home....you're not going to college like your sister.......nobody expects you to be decked out from head-to-toe in your own home.
The more tactful thing for this aunti would have been to just remain silent. You either say something that is positive.......that no one can question or have doubts about...............or you keep your mouth shut if what you'd like to say is negative or too vague. Some people are more aware of how they come across than others. You don't know this woman. You're not gonna interact with her much. You aren't the first person she's offended with her tactlessness.......and you more than likely won't be the last. You don't owe her anything....you're never gonna change for her.......she's gone and is probably sipping chai in her home not the least bit bothered that you're so worked up over this. Don't give her so much power over you.
