a great superstar of his era and his best film acting wise according to me was Aag ka Darya.

yes, I think his best work is of from Black & White era. I also like Aag ka Darya and other one is "Humraaz' where he was paired with Shaim Ara. After Black & White era, he was type casted most of the time

Muhamamd Ali was a great human being as well. I was reading biography of Shafi Muhammad Shah (another legend) and it was Muhammad Ali who supported a new actor from rural Sindh and gave him a place to stay in Lahore till he himself became a well know name after his work in drama ‘Teesra Kinara’.

I can’t digest that people who brought up in era, when there was one state owned and one private channel in Pakistan, don’t remember watching Muhammad Ali. He has so many popular songs picturised on him, which these channels kept on repeating. Films were banned on PTV during Zia regime, but in 90s, when they start showing movies, they telecast lots of movies starring Muhammad Ali.

I f we remember programs like ‘Chand Girhan’. "Music Challenge’ and ‘Hip Hip Hurray’, why can’t these movies?

There was a tribute program in Muhamamd Ali’s life telecasted from STN:

Why is it so hard to digest? in 90’s we were just kids and these old movies and old songs did not attract me as I was more into dramas.Till date I have never watched any of these classic films but, I am not denying that they were not hit at that time or any of these actors are/were not legends.

I agree, he worked in Indian and Persian movies, as well, and he got his name in the list of 25 most greatest actors of Asia all time (by CNN). A true legend.

Whereas, I’ve seen an actor (someone from aj kal kay dramas) being discussed too much in the thread somewhere with just only 1500 fan following on twitter

What I can’t digest when people in Pakistan praise Lata and Rafi’s old songs and talk about Beju Bawra and Mughl e Azam, but don’t know about Mehdi Hasan and legends like Muhammad Ali (especially those who lived in PTV’s era, when there were no so many channels promoting garbage from outside the country).

I just guessed from most talked drama actor nowadays. BTW some guppans have observed wrinkles on his face recently and I think 1500 might go down to 500 soon :sid:
