Famous popular singer of yesteryear Zubaida Khanum passed away on Saturday night.She was the voice behind songs such as 'Asan jan ke meech lee akh we' in Heer Ranjha and 'Dilla ther ja yar da nazaran len de' besides the famous Naat 'Shah-e-Madina'.She also acted as second lead besides Madam Noor Jehan in 'Patay Khan'.Her son Faisal Bukhari is a famous camera man and director whose last movie was 'Bhai Log'.May her soul rest in peace!

There are many beautiful songs on her credit like "Teri Ulfat Mein Sanam Dil Ne Bohat Dard Sahey"

She along with Naseem Begum, Kausar Parveen, Naheed Niazi, etc were the lead female singers back in 1950s. They all had sweet voices, comparable with those of Lata Mangeshkar, Suman Kalyanpur, Asha Bhosle, etc.
