What happened to Khanbabax thread about the Pakistani Army being Shia hitmen?
did the mods take it down or something?
Turns out they were Qadiyani hitmen yelling "Ya Mirza Madad". Trust me, I read it in a jihadi newspaper.

Re: ‘Deal done’ - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
I see no mention of the bar not filing a constitutional appeal against Mush’s re-election. It was the bar in the first place that made Musharraf sleepless in Rawalpindi. And they have already made their intentions very clear on this issue. I don’t see Musharraf lasting too long, Benazir or no Benazir. In fact,** Aitezaz **](WATANDOST: An Educational Blog About Religion, Politics and Security in South West Asia : Aitzaz Ahsan: A Lawyer who turned a Judge into a National Cause)was asked (on ARY) if he’d take up the bar’s case, and he said I won’t refuse to take up anything that doesn’t go against my conscience. A better read than this article would be to read what the CJ said in his speech just yesterday.

^ This is hilarious, I bet BB cronies don't mind... What do you think RD?
Abdlai - this is "The RealDeal". :D
Re: 'Deal done' - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
Do you think that PPP (BB) would do better in 2008 election than what they did in 2002 election? I don't think so. I would be surprised if they would do even half as good as they did in 2002 election.
Probably BB realised that her party missed good chance she was given in 2002, just because she became selfish. In process, she lost out too. Now, she has learned. Thus made Zardari a non-entity (disappeared somewhere in zero-land) and decided to have a go for virtual power (as real power would still going to be in the hand of man in uniform :) ).
The PPP is the only genuine political party that has roots in all the provinces and it's votebacnk has been demonstrated in every election. Zardari is now virtually unseen, and the PML Q govt has lost a lot of popularity, so I believe that PPP will again win the largest votes in the coming elections.
Re: 'Deal done' - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
“The day Pervez Musharraf announces he is standing for re-election, the bars are going to strike, the courts are going to close across Pakistan, and lawyers are going to be on the street,” he said.
Anarchy will lead to another Marshal Law (and not some democrazy) under Chief Justice.
Supreme court has power for sure. But it is "judicial" power and not "political" power.
The day "judicial" becomes "political" the role of courts will no longer be "independent".

How can Supreme Court decide anything that they have no right to decide?
Who would be President or not, or that President be in uniform or not, is not jurisdiction of Supreme Court but it is jurisdiction of Parliament. So, what is not in Supreme Court jurisdiction, how can they decide? And even if they would like to decide regardless of a thing is in their jurisdiction or not, how would they enforce that? Please explain … :)

Re: 'Deal done' - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
cj has only 1 vote. three people dissented in the sc decision in favour of cj. also from the information available, there is an anti-cj camp in higher judiciary. moreover all the judges of sc took oath under the pco and are unlikely to give decision which upsets the whole applecart. i am sure govt is already working on judges sympathetic to its pov.
musharraf is allowed to hold dual offices under 17th amendment. also since he become president as a result of referendum, the current assembly is well within its right to appoint a new president after expiry of musharraf's term. since musharraf can hold two offices under the constitution, he is eligible to run for presidential elections if the elections are held before the expiry of dual office period. after the expiry of dual office authorisation, musharraf can remain president if he stops being coas.
under current consitution, benazir cannot become pm because consitution limits pm to two terms. musharraf will only make amendment to two term-provision if benazir in return agrees to accept constitutional changes which allows musharraf to continue. if benazir does not agree amend constitution as per musharraf's wishes, she cannot become the pm. there is zero chance of ppp getting 2/3 majority needed to make amendment to the constitution without the help of other parties.
bottomline, musharraf is on pretty solid ground as far as legal challenge to his rule is concerned.
Re: ‘Deal done’ - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
Makhdoom Amin Fahim seems to have been tossed aside by BB in her desperate quest to get back near the top.
http://thenews.jang.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=66184
**Rehman replaces Fahim as Benazir’s most trusted aide **
Emerging as the ‘deal broker’ in Benazir-Musharraf talks on Friday in Abu Dhabi, ex-DG FIA Rehman Malik has replaced Makhdoom Amin Fahim who has been the most trusted political lieutenant of Benazir Bhutto since 2002. According to insiders, one reason behind dumping Fahim at this critical stage is that Benazir does not want to give any chance to Musharraf to choose a politician from her home province Sindh as the future prime minister, as he had done in 2002. This time she seems to have given a loud message to Musharraf that, when the situation arises, he has to choose only her as the future prime minister. Contrary to media reports that Fahim was with Benazir in Abu Dhabi, the gentleman politician is in London. Fahim has switched off his mobile phone to avoid a flurry of calls from his friends from Pakistan and London after the news of Benazir-Musharraf meeting went on air. Sources said that in the recent past after Rehman Malik took over the role of top “adviser and broker” of Benazir on important matters ranging from politics to business, Fahim seems to have become an “obsolete political commodity.” Meanwhile, top party sources have confirmed to The News that after receiving an urgent message from Islamabad that Musharraf wanted to meet her to discuss a power-sharing formula, Benazir took Rehman Malik along to Abu Dhabi and, much to the chagrin of Fahim, asked him to stay back in London as he was not needed there in these negotiations.
Sources believe that as a part of new political strategy, Benazir seems to have brought Rehman to the forward position in recognition of his “unexplored political abilities” to have direct access to the close friends of Musharraf and deal with them according to the wishes and priorities of Benazir. The “pragmatic and practical” approach of Rehman seems to have convinced Benazir to solely depend upon his “wisdom”, instead of a veteran politician like Amin Fahim, who according to her assessment could not deliver according to her wishes. Rehman on the other hand seems to have delivered on many counts for Benazir after both also developed some business understanding. Rehman has certainly left many close aides of Benazir far behind to win her confidence. Interestingly, many top party leaders are found standing in front of Rehman Malik’s house waiting for an entry to meet Benazir, have been forced to seek the “favours and goodwill” of Rehman to stay close to Benazir. **In 2002 Amin Fahim was authorised by Benazir to meet the military generals and his spy masters to explore possibilities of some kind of deal that could ensure her return to Pakistan and immediate scrapping of all corruption cases against her, both within and outside Pakistan. However, Musharraf outsmarted the gentleman politician and rather dictated his own terms and conditions. Instead of obliging Benazir, he offered to elevate Fahim as the prime minister and his son as the chief minister Sindh. This was not to the liking of Benazir and she scrapped the deal being negotiated at that time. ** Sources said, Fahim was useful for the Benazir camp when Asif Ali Zardari was in jail in Pakistan, as he was the man who used to meet military generals and spy masters of the Musharraf regime to bring about some kind of adjustments between the two camps. Fahim was calling the shots in Benazir’s absence from Pakistan and Zardari in jail. All the military men used to contact Fahim to exchange messages with Benazir or Asif Zardari. But with the changing environment, he too seems to have lost his political utility for Benazir who has found a new adviser and deal broker in the person of Rehman Malik.
Re: ‘Deal done’ - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
Did Chief Justice say that? Gosh man, has CJ gone lunatic? ![]()
‘The day President would announce he is standing for re-election … court are going to close across Pakistan’ … is that what he said? Kiya court CJ kay baap kee jageer hay?
Well, court may go on strike, no problem … but to say that by CJ would be a lunatic statement.
And yea, who is this monkey Justice that can say these craps? …. ‘He feel that it is end of road for the military? It is the end of road for Pervez Musharraf?’ Doesn’t this monkey knows that if he is sitting in his office, he is left to sit there by President (who is willing to tolerate him)?
Believe me, if it was anyone else in place of President Musharraf, this monkey would have been rotting in prison. I cannot believe that he could have said all this
. Where did this monkey of a judge said all these craps, can we read it all, is it on website somewhere?
It seems that CJ is now hallucinating. He has started thinking that he is Superman? ![]()
Re: ‘Deal done’ - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
Other stalwarts liked Ghulam Mustafa Khar and Aitzaz Ahsan seem to have go the displeasure of BB as well, and she may not even give them party tickets.

Edit. Khar denied ticket, but still no decision on Aitzaz.

Flame dear! you are expecting a tad too much from Supreme Court.
Pres. Musharraf simply "suspended" the CJ and asked the high court to look into the matter.
Without going into legalies, CJ cannot "suspend" the Pres. Even if he does, who is he going to ask for a review? GHQ?
Re: ‘Deal done’ - Benazir agrees to Musharraf’s re-election in uniform
The honourable Chief Justice seems to be being pulled into all the deal making. Tauba tauba!

Shujaat may meet CJ today
The PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is expected to meet Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here today (Saturday), The Nation learnt reliably on Friday. The PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who rushed to Islamabad from Lahore, is constantly in touch with the Chief Justice since the July 20 Supreme Court verdict reinstating the top adjudicator and setting aside the presidential reference against him. When contacted Shujat confirmed that he has contacted the Chief Justice seeking a meeting with him. However, he added, that the meeting could take place either on Saturday or Sunday at the convenience of the chief judge. The PML President said that he was ready to play a role to bridge the gap between President General Pervez Musharraf and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the wake of situation that emerged after the presidential reference and the apex court decision. According to sources, the meeting is to take place either at the residence of the Chief Justice or at the Supreme Court office of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. **“Shujat has already discussed with the Chief Justice some important matters during his recent contacts.” **At the same time, when Minister of State for Information Tariq Azim was contacted he neither confirmed nor denied the expected meeting but said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was the most suitable person who could revive the relationship between the president and the Chief Justice in the present situation. “Chaudhry Sahib has close contacts not only with President Musharraf but also with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and, therefore, he can play an important role for their co-existence,” the minister argued. It is important to mention here that Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will remain Chief Justice of Pakistan till 2012 and General Musharraf wants himself to be re-elected for another five-year term in office.
