From what I know, present situation is nothing to do with Musharraf, neither Musharraf cares if he in in ECL or not. Few months ago, his mother was sick and hospitalised so he wanted to visit her, but now she is out of hospital and now he do not care, rather Musharraf is thinking to get his mother back to Pakistan.
As for government backing down, it all happened on 14[SUP]th[/SUP] August when Army chief told Prime Minister that army would not act against any civilians to facilitate government political ambitions, and also would not sit quite if police is used in illegal ways and situation deteriorates. That is the reason Thug Gullu Nawaz illegal government backed down from using police illegally to supress people participating in protest, especially party of TUQ and PTI.
What I believe the game plan is, PTI and PAT would demand Thug Nawaz to resign and form interim government that would bring all the reforms. It is possible that for reforms, referendum could be used.
If Thug Gullu did not accept the demands than agitation would start, initially it could be in Islamabad that may spread all over Pakistan, and such agitation would bring in army into power, who would punish Thug Gullu Nawaz and his Gullus on corruption and murder charges, then army would bring all the reforms as required, changing constitution using ordinance and validating that ordinance through following assembly or referendum.
Actually, once army would takeover, they would promise to stay in power until time all reforms are made, then there would be election validating the reforms … or … if army decides than army would stay for foreseeable future and would validate the reforms using referendum.
It is possible that we might see completely new constitution, where role of army would be defined in clear terms.
If Imran Khan thought that after army takeover he would become prime minister than he must be a greater fool. After every army takeover PPP forms a government.
