Actually after the Soviets left Afghanistan, having been defeated by mujahideen supported by America and other powers including PAKISTAN, the country hit rock bottom. A civil war which did far more damage then the Soviet days infact.
Pakistan supported the Taliban movement which was initially welcomed by the people of Afghanistan. These Taliban were predominantly Pashtun, the majority in Afghanistan.
The TALIBAN GOVT WAS RECOGNIZED BY PAKISTAN, SAUDIA ARABIA, AND THE UAE. But all cut of ties after 9 11. So that shows how ignorant you are...
