Re: Dawood Ibrahim - Financier of Al-Qaida?
New Delhi, Sep 12: The Chief of the Interpol has said that India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim is most certainly in Pakistan, Sahara Samay sources said.
Dawood Ibrahim is an accused in 1993 Mumbai blasts that killed 257 people.
Meanwhile, speaking at the 7th Interpol meeting in New Delhi, CBI Director, Vijay Shankar called upon the international community to mount pressure on Pakistan.
Last month the CBI had written to Pakistan for confirmation of news reports of Dawood’s detention there and his subsequent relocation to a safe house.
It is learnt that Pakistan has always strongly denied Dawood’s presence, but is under increasing pressure to crack down on al Qaeda operatives and other wanted terrorists believed to be hiding out in the country.
In fact, the U.S. intelligence agencies have also started to pressure Pakistan about finding Dawood, as he is believed to have worked out a deal with al Qaeda and other terrorist groups to share his heroin smuggling routes, which extend from India to Europe.
