Ok this is not fair. I have some knowledge about what happened that day and total count was definitely above 150. Plus this statement also gives an impression that MQM did that in Hyderabad AFTER carrying out 3rd of september's attacks. if that is the case then why cases were filed against "Jeyai Sindh Movement" and Qadir Mugsse in particular!

beta realdeal,my resources r extremely powerful and reliable...i know many nbig names of mqm and other members....abt evil face of mqm,no doubt they have done many criminal face and i m not defending mqm as u can see... but u cannot ignore the terrorism did by army in 1992...mahajirs were also killed by punjabies and phathans..ask any1 who lives in karachi and knows abt those past bloody days....

as i said,there r thousands of hidden things.... again i ask u tht u will believe tht a guy who was in the jail at the time of hakeem saeed murder,was accused of firing at hakeem saeed....by the way,for ur information,i have read all the case files belonging to hakeem saeed case..

I think Azeem Ahmed tariq wrote the first banner of APMSO in 70’s, Co- founder of APMSO and was considered a bit soft spoken and sensible man by some in the party.

ahan. so he was an important leader among MQM. now that makes me wonder! IF fas overlooked or didn’t mention his murder and other details about him then what else they forgot to add in this “version” of history?? or its just showing only one side of the picture!

is there any other independent source where I can find more info? I am not interested in about MQM by the way. what I want to know what made it possible to gain so much support in Karachi and Hyderabad!! I mean by now I know they are bunch of “thugs”, but what factors made it possible for a “bunch of thugs” to get so much strenght and blind support!

So you admit this is what someone told you, rumours that have become ‘fact’. Glad we got that established.

As someone who lived in Kharachi from the birth of the MQM to the time you mentioned, there was no greater terrorist and killers than MQM. They broughg such brutality to Karachi that was never seen before. No neutral observer can deny that. even a MQM supporter can’t deny it, but they will find a way to justify it. MQM deserved everything bullet it got because it was killling and torturing for many,many years

As for Army killing, Pakistan Army history is always ready to kill non-Punjabis. The history of Pakistan is full of examples.

In this case though, MQM was growing out of control and needed to be put down. Innocents died, but many more innocent lives were saved by stopping the MQM rampages. Including many mohajir lives

Wellwhat I saw that MQM was a reaction to injustice consistently imposed over now called muhajirs (some call urdu speaking..other called 'Makkar', 'Tleer' 'Bhagoray', Hindustani, Hindustoray etc.)

It did change over time perhaps uncontrolled powere gained by young people. Sensible, older never really accepted hateful ideology promoted by some in the party. Many in the party could not help but feel bad about what was happening in the name of Muhajirs.

Altaaf ran away or was forced to run away is dfferent debate but really did not do a sincere job to contain the hateful and forceful attitude of those who forgot what was behind the idea of creating the party.

MQM does not even talk about issues it stand for in the beginning like injust and infamous and brutal qouta system.

MQM drove SOME young people from studying and learning and maintaining educational dominance over others. Positions held by force do not last long. Same is true for dominant Punjab and non-muhajirs in Pakistan army, civil service, police etc. for last 40+ years.

In order for long lasting peace and strength, we need to respect each other and begin and maintain the MERIT system.

Non-muhajirs always respected Muhajirs/Karachiites for their education openly or hidden way. Some were extremely jealous (or malicious) as well but still impressed.

This Karachi dominance is slowly fading but not yet disappered.

We all have witnessed one way or other that Police is biased against Non-Punjabis specially In Karachi. This needs to be taken seriously. Denial of it is dangerous for all.

All Pakistanis including Muhajirs must take positive attitude towards education,respect, tolarence, sharing the resources so the country continues to grow strong.

By the way, there are still some sincere and sensible people in MQM.
But personally, I do not think Altaf himself has these qualities anymore. He seems immature, emotional, confused and has multiple opposite stands at the same time. Too harsh at times as well.
Its a pipe dream which never really worked for MQM to lose its real stand and try to be a national party representing ALL Pakistanis. What a joke...

Karachi is getting dirtier, full of pollution, insecure and people do not want to invest in Karachi...any real step taken by MQM for it? Its a big deal to even have cricket match in Karachi.

Decoits, car theives, murderers are running around and police a part of it....and leaders sleeping...

Not sure if Altaf really a leader of Muhajirs or just using them for his inner appatite to be called "pir sahab" "god father"!!!! Why not stop people from calling him these 'good names'?

Why not promote as a Univ. of Karachi Pharmacy student going house to house for the cause in Karachi collecting money (donation) from hardworking Karachi people?

Where is the humble nature of a leader which was used to be essential in the past?

He also refuted 2 nation theory and too close to India than Pakistan.

Some people call him bhagora but knowing pakistan Army/police he maybe justified in staying outside Pakistan.......................but why not be a hero than a escapee?

this is not unique to Karachi..any Military operation leads to civilian deaths..the sad thing about Pakistani society is the lack of empathy ..a minority were saddened by the abuses that happened in Karachi..but now that the MQM is in power you don't see any empathy for what has happened in Waziristan. This is a uniquely Pakistani problem..violence as a means of imposing a solution is always a first option..and the sadness at deaths are restricted to ones own.

while there were sincere ppl in MQM who stood up for thr rights of a community which had suffered a lot of bias in every spehere of life, there were others who were in it for their own gain just like the other political leaders in the country.

MQM's tactics were wrong, the tactics of military especially during zia's role and police, rangers during benazir's rule were also very wrong. I have personally seen sensible, professional people being harassed, made to crawl or jump like a frog in streets of karachi by lowlife pind originated cops who took great pleasure in exerting their absolute power. I know of one guy from a respectable family in Karachi who got into MQM and became athug to take revenge on the cops based on how they treated his parents at a routine traffic stop.

What MQM did in karachi, and the ghunda elements of it can not be forgivenm it was wrong. it started operating like a gang, a mafia, collecting protection money, kidnapping ppl. Same stuff that sindhi gangs had been doign in karachi previously, kidnapping for ransom, carjackings etc etc.

do not let your dislike for MQM make you turn a blind eye or ignore the real atrocities committed against "mohajirs" in Karachi.

and do not let your pain for "mohajirs" and their plight especially under zia and bb's rule turn a blind eye to the ghunda gardee of MQM.

Altaf and his ilk represent the ugly side of this party, there were ppl who got involvd to make a difference for their community, but Altaf types are as much concerned for the people or the country as people like benazir are.

Karachi was the stronghold of jamat-e-islami and jamiat ullema pakistan after the formation of mqm the whole vote bank shifted towards the mqm since karachi has an overwhelming urdu speaking population.That is the reason why jammat is always accusing mqm.The only areas of lyari and malir are the ones which are ppp dominated.The rest is with the mqm.

About azeem ahmed tariq some people say that he was killed on the orders of altaf.But come to think of it whether he was killed on the orders of altaf or the agencies the fact is he was the one who was behind the idea of jinnahpur(mahajir province).Mqm denied the whole jinnahpur plan and the army accused them of printing maps and involvemnet in anti sate activities.Then who really killed azeem tariq who wanted to make a mahajir province

I said why only urdu speaking people were killed whether they are in mqm haqqiqi or some one mentioned jaamat which is not true at all because it is not even mentioned on their website which has the list of their martyrs.

Mqm has good people as well as bad people just like other political particies.Why only criticise mqm.The majority of the karachi votes for the mqm they know that they have bad people too but still they vote for them.The only reason is that they feel that if someone can solve their problems it is only the mqm.No other party thinks for karachi and its people.

Why only mahajirs were killed in army operations most of them innocent.The point is why our punjabi brothers dont accept this that many innocent mahajirs were killed in these operations.Just like the army denied the bloodshed of innocent bengalis

Pakistan can only progress and prosper if nationalism is rooted out of the country.one can have any idea of pakistani politics why only nationalist movemnets are from the smaller provinces who feel that they are deprived and oppressed.pkmap anp for nwfp bnm bnp etc for balochistan jeay sindh snf for sindh and seraiki national party which wants a separate punjabi province.why not a punjabi party because punjabi never felt the descrimination.It is the punjabi establishmnet which should realise that they are dividing the country .

Agreed for the most part. never heard of Azeem Ahmed tariq being a suppoter of Jinnahpur though. It could be true but not certain.
Punjab has the ultimate benefit if pakistan is just the way it is. they celebrate Azaadi like no one else has right on it. Go to any Paki program and Punjbi Bhangra is given more time/respect/importance and no one else is talked about.
Few Urdu songs are played during Jashne Azadi by organizers and all others are discouraged. Any one here dispute it?

My bro Equalityis the answer to many problems. Population card is too much played by punjab everywhere. it may come back to haunt them i am afraid..God forbid.

If it is true than definitely that is absolutely condemnable. But MQM did reap what it sowed. Don’t forget their inhuman acts and mass killing of innocent Punjabis, Pathans and Sindhis. MQM terrorist gang raped Sindhi women and underage girls in 1991-1992, though it was not enough brutality for them as they also embossed MQM mark on the butts of women and young girls in Hyderabad. I have absolute no sympathy for such acts. MQM should have never been created by the Army in the first place. After mass murders and rape to other communities, it should have been banned a long time ago and its leader should have been tried in courts for such crimes and hanged. To me MQM is not oppressed but they are the actual oppressors and they sound not cry wolf.

^ Biased ideas farid. Majority MQM people did not have anything to do with brutality or whatever. Please post proof of rapes and carving letters also. Its is always possible to infiltrate a party with people who commit crimes in the name of the party. I am not saying MQM is party of angels. But who is? Jamaati did goondaism as well despite being a religeous party.
Don't we know PPI killed so many in Karachi in their own city coming in trucks and buses from other cities?
Most of Muhajirs did not or do not even now carry weapons as its never been in their culture. they learned to keep weapons from others.
