Um, who says JLo is dark skinned. She is actually fair. It's her trademark JLo glow that makes her the beauty that she is. plus the bronzer!
Some other beauties: Zoe Saldana, Chanel Iman, Naomi Campbell, Joan Smalls, Rashida Jones...and tons more.
In Pakistanis I have always liked Vaneeza's and Iraj's skin tone.
In Indians, Reka was truly a dusky beauty and this Chatranwhatsherface is gorgeous too.

Aw poor old Asian girls and their never ending confusion about skin colour, half of the women named here should not be considered 'dark'.

^Like I posted above, these women have a NORMAL desi complexion because desis come in all colors but lean towards tan/dark.

The pictures you have posted are the typical sleazy professional shoots where the model is overly tanned to sell sex. I know form personal experince that Meera is wheatish pale. Seriously by posting those pictures you’ve basically reinforced the popular perception that dark=dirty/slutty. Why dark skinned girl has to show her skin to be considered 'beautiful (sexy in other words) And this is exactly the type of nonsense that most dark skinned women run away from. If dark skinned girls are considered as ‘clean’ ‘innocent’ and ‘angelic’ as girl with creamy complexion, I’m sure we’d get rid 90% of the insecurities…but thanks to media…dark girls are only good at posing semi nude on burning sand while the fair ones get to have fun playing pretty daisies.

Uh, I think you’re looking a bit too much into this. I never said having fair skin is abnormal (this is coming from someone who is quite light). I just meant that Desi skin (be it Pakistani, Indian, Bengali or even Sri Lankan) tends to be tanner. This thread was a spinoff thread from Reha’s thread and I assumed it was for “typical/normal” desi skin colors, meaning colors which are common. I never said finding pale/fair skin girls is a rarity but it’s not as common as the Desi media makes it out to be with our uber-fair actresses/models.
And again, the pictures I posted were the first few hits on Google so the assumption of “dark=dirty/slutty” was entirely you thinking that on your own. Also, the insecurity of dark skin is not just amongst desis but Asians in general. Japan and Korea are known for their obsession with skin lightening. It has nothing to do with people thinking darker skin is dirty/not clean/angelic but everything to do with an outdated concept of class/social status which has been in place for hundreds of years even in Europe when back then having dark skin implied you were a peasant who worked under the scorching sun. That doesn’t imply those these people were thought to be slutty. :halo:

No its not, its actually an ongoing debate in the media and fashion industry, a very relevent at that. I wish I could take the credit but there are plenty of people out there who working to raise awareness and bring an end to this disgusting trend. You are actually in support of my argument, the whole reason why there is obsession with fair skin is because of the profound level of romanticism associted with it, while the dark shade is all sleazed up. Imagine if it was other way around, do you think we’d still have this epidemic problem? As with peasants, yes even back in those days, it was easier and common to sexually exploit dark peasent girls than raise a finger at fair virgin madame, because fair = pure, angelic, clean etc.
As with the so called spin off from Reha thread, I honestly doubt girls here would appreciate associting themselves with ‘dark’ calender girls you’ve posted, while everyone would feel an insant connection if there’s a picture of Khirad posted. Its just shows the most girls just want the dark complexion to enjoy the same level of romanticism, respectability and charm thats associated with fair side…the whole sleazing up of dark colour as some sort of compensation is actually adding insult to the injury (for Asian women at least).

^I understand what you're saying but I did not mean to offend anyone with the pictures I posted. Like I said, they were just the first few hits on Google and personally, I thought they looked stunning and not slutty or "dirty" but to each their own.
