Here is a view of what’s behind the Darfur crisis. This is NOT to minimise the faults of allthe locals involved, whether Sudanese govt. or the rebels, but I’m convinced that without meddling from foreign powers the dispute could be resolved directly by the parties involved.
At the end of the day it is about having control of resources that are not yours - NOTHING to do with principles, compassion, human rights.
Note the comparison with the situation in Congo. Well worth reading the whole article (not long).
