Crisis in Maharashtra?

In India most of the states are divided over linguistic lines. Over the few years lot of Hindi speakers have settled in Maharashtra. Many have not attempted in learning the state language Marathi. If this problem is not solved, it could result in balkanisation of India.

Assam is usually known for its cool air. But the youth are on fire there these days and have killed 19 Biharis.

This is not new as we have witnessed trouble all over the country between two groups in the last 30 years. This poison was injected into our society after states were formed on the basis of languages. The then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was roundly criticised by intellectuals. Most felt that Nehru should have created four zones namely East, West, North and South. Maharashtra suffered the most in the process and Mumbai is still reeling under its effect. We saw the wounds giving way to emotional outburst after the Railway Recruitment Board examinations, last week. Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena activists ransacked the RRB office at Mumbai Central and also drove away Bihari students who came to appear for the exams. On the face of it, the ruckus may seem to have been born out of friction between two languages. But it’s far from it.
