World and PK people will know after few months ( when misbah retires ) how improtant this man was for our crikcet. When a team is full of shahzadas who go to wicket and through their wicket after a six and 2 fours . and continue their suttas and slefies from where they stopped. Misbah is a cool customer never complained about his peers.

BTW I really love the term teenager afridi.

As for Choice of captain Ahmed shahzad comes to mind . Another option could be Azhar ali ...
These players can play fancy shots but they know they dont have luxury to get out and the remaining bunch will be out in 10 or so overs..

I don’t understand why misbah fans don’t get that there is gear in b/w the two that most good players play at. Look at Amla..

The guy is no Miandad to take single double on every ball and rotate the strike. He has limitation and he waits for the right ball to hit. He would have been in the ODI team, if the others around were performing. So he is andho mein kaana raja.

With his limited ability and defensive mindset, he still has done a lot for the country with the sort of politics and corruption in the team/board.

^Well said.
Misbah may not be the as great as Amla or AB D, but considering our batsmen who cannot even play/consume 50 overs, Misbah is far better even with slower strike.

I am not happy to say this, but everyone will realize who Misbah was and what was he doing for the country quietly once he is gone after WC (from ODI).

Without him, our batting will not be able to play 50 overs in 7/8 out of 10 games and will fold for under 200 with WONDERFUL STRIKE RATE. Misbah haters can then suck that strike rate :)

I have very good hopes from Azhar ali to fulfil role of misbah and shafiq to fill lower middle order rather than akmal the talented. Opening is problem unsolved for us as Shahzad doesnt have a decent partner unless we make sarfraz as a permanent opener for ODI.

Unless misbah does something special in the knockout stages (with S/R abvoe 60, one can dream)... he won't be missed!!! I still can't forget his amazing inns in 2011 semi.
