Cricket World Cup 2003--->Pool B

KENYA :k:

Their remaining matches are against BD and WI, so I think they will progress to the supersix and if in the process they knock out cry babies NZ out of the tournament all the more better.

Go KENYA GO.

WAY TO GO KENYA  :k:

Great job done. I think they deserved test status More then Bangladesh. They have beaten 3 test teams now and was so close to victory against Australia last year.

Puts our losses into some perspective as well. Great scenes in Kenya after the win BTW :)

Tests for Kenya on horizon

World Cup giantkillers Kenya could be playing Test cricket by 2006.

Kenya could have more cause for celebration in three years’ time

The International Cricket Council (ICC) told the BBC Sport website it was working with Kenya to make them the next Test-playing nation.

ā€œThere is a proposal on the table and if that goes ahead Kenya will be playing Test cricket in three years,ā€ the ICC’s development manager Andrew Eade said.

"We want the Kenyan Cricket Association (KCA) to defer their application for three years on the proviso we would work closely with them and provide funding to ebstablish the longer game.

Kenya fight for Test status

"Kenya are undoubtedly the strongest non-Test country by playing standards.

ā€œBut there are development and infrastructure issues that need to be worked on.ā€

Kenya, who shocked Sri Lanka on Monday, would be the 13th Test nation after Bangladesh were admitted in 2000.

Mistake

The Tigers were given Test status after their 1999 World Cup upset over Pakistan, but they are still seeking a first victory.

Eade admitted Bangladesh were admitted prematurely and said the ICC did not want to make the same mistake with Kenya.

ā€œThe ICC wants to ensure that when Kenya become a Test nation they don’t go through the same problems as Bangladesh where they haven’t got the skills to play at that level,ā€ he said.

"When Bangladesh were admitted, all the indicators were there that they would quickly come up to speed.

"But we threw them in there a little bit early and it showed there is a big difference between Test and one-day cricket.

ā€œThe experience of Bangladesh has shown the ICC we need to be very careful before admitting teams to Test status because it is totally different game.ā€

why 2006.let them play early. :)

Anyway..so Groub B in now wide open any team can qualify.Kenya looks pretty certain.Which mean 2 of WI,SL,SA,NZL will not qualify...
huhoooooooooooooooooooo.....

NZL looks liek to be the most likely casualty. NZL will certainly end up with 16 points and if Kenya also ends up with 16 then NewZealand will go out coz of thier head to head comparison.i.e. they forfieted thier own points. Though i wouild like to see Kiwis through as they deserve more BUT they also deserve to bite the dust.

Kenyan Coach Sandip Patil Blasted Sidhu After the match. Here is his comment

ā€œI want to tell Navjot Singh Sidhu that he should restrain himself during commentary. He has always been saying that Kenya, Bangladesh and Holland are here in the World Cup just to hang around and not serious contenders. I hope our victory against Sri Lanka will make him rethink,ā€ said Patil.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

New Zealand v Bangladesh
South Africa v Canada
Kenya v Bangladesh

New Zealand v Canada
West Indies v Kenya

Sri Lanka v West Indies
South Africa v Sri Lanka

Out of this 7 matches we can safely assume that first 5 matches will be won by NZL,AS,KEN,NZL and WINDIES.
I know after 2 days upset one shouldnot make assumption. But lets do it for analysis sake.So it will leave
KENYA and NZL with 16 point.Soth Africa and SL with 12 and Windies 14.

Lets see how the result of last 2 matches listed above will effect points.

** Sri Lank wins both matches **

then SL gets 20 .NZL and kEN gets 16.So SL,KEN,NZL moves to super six.

** Sri Lank wins againt West Indies and loosed to SA **

Then SL ,NZL,KEN,SA all tied at 16.In that case SA,KEN moves on virtue of defeating 2 teams among 4.

** Sri Lanka looses both **

Then SL 12.KEN ,NZL,SA 16 and West Indies 18.
So West Indies goes along with 2 of KEN,NZL,SA whichever has best average.

** Sri Lanka looses to Windies and Wins agains SA **

Then SL ,KEN ,NZL have 16 and West Indies 18.
So West Indies ,KEN and SL goes to super six.

Bottom line is that of all the teams KEN looks more certian to go to Super six which makes teams in Group A a lot happier.

I think thats the most likely scenario and NZL , SA and WI go through.

AQ, Kenya for the cup. Comments like these could get you banned permanently from KK. :hehe:

And I thought I am making you happy so that I can be next Mod..lol lol

Hats off to Kenya... They have beaten the Windies, Sri Lanka, and India (twice)... I hope they play even better and become a formidable side in the future...

Congratulations to Kenya!!
I couldn’t believe my eyes, Murali wasn’t the frontpage headline this time. I’m really impressed with Steve Tikolo’s captaining and batting, he is certainly the most talented cricketer to ever play cricket for a non-test nation.

Kenya deserves a place in Test Cricket.

Now all Kenya needs to do is get rid of Hitesh Modi from the team. Modi is so slow and lazy at the same time. The presence of Asif Karim’s leadership has helped the side’s confidence emensily.

Kenya reminds me of Senegal of the Football World Cup 2002. :hula:

This is pretaining that WI defeats SL and Kenya, NZ defeat Ban and Can, South Africa defeat Canada and Sri Lanka, Kenya defeat Ban.
If all goes to plan, Group B might look like:
WI 18pts
RSA 16 pts (higher rr)
Kenya 16 pts (lower rr)
SL 12 pts (higher rr)
NZ 12 pts (lower rr)

PC yaar - If NZ beat canada and BD, They will also have 16 points :) and I think of all the teams in Group B NZ has the best chance of going to super Six.

Whoops.. that was a big typo.

NZ should have 16pts. But they might be under RSA because RSA play against Canada and might defeat them emensly. Note to be taken is NZ has lower run rate than WI and RSA.

Unless NZ whip the Bangers and Canada (which they will), there may even be a tie for the same amount of run rate between RSA and NZ. :P

Bangladesh : 19/0 (6.0) (R.R.: 3.17)
Batsman Runs Balls
H Sarkar 9 19
M Ashraful 7 17
Bowler 0 M R W
K Mills 3 0 14 0

Bangladesh have actually scored 19 without losing a wicket !!! whats the cricket world coming to..

ooops spoke too soon...Bang. lose their first wicket at 19..

Bangladesh 106/5 off 29 overs.

Mohammed Ashraful 55 not out

BD 198/7 after 50 overs.
