Does the head to head rule apply if the two teams are tied or the run rate will be put into consideration first?
[/QUOTE]

yep. head-to-head rule will be applied first. But if three teams are tied on points and each team is beaten by fine but wins over the other, Then the NRR will come into consideration.

If Pakistan were to qualify for super 6s the following should occur.

Pakistan must beat Holland, India, and Zimbabwe.

England must beat India.

Australia must beat Zimbabwe.

If this occurs, Australia and England qualify for the top 2 spots and Pakistan will be left for the 3rd.

The match on March 1st will be the most important match ever!

Lets look at the bright side, Australia also lost its first 2 games to Pakistan and New Zealand, they were 3rd seat qualifiers from Group A in WC 99, went onto win all 3 matches in super 6s, qualified for the number 4 spot in semi finals, and defeated the number 1 team.

I agree. There are few positive points to take from this defeat.
1.Pakistanis player will pull up their socks and will win remaining three and qualify for super Six.Pakistani team always does good when they r down and out. This good be the match to bring them in senses.
2.Shoib's mad pursuit of fastes delivery is over.I hope He will now concentrate on bowling with good line and length.
3.I hope Pakistani management will stop counting Afridi as an all rounder and then pick the team.

The Game Responds:

*Do you guys see the similarity in position between Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup and Australia in the 1999 World Cup in the first round of matches? Australia lost to New Zealand and Pakistan in their first three games in the last world cup; similar situation is present here with the Pakistanis. I know it sounds idiotic at this time, but I have a very strange feeling that Pakistan will come into some ass kicking form sooner than many expect (before the match against India, ofcourse). God knows I am not an optimist, but I have this very weird gut feeling. Let's see what happens. People, That Is All.*

I see India's match against England is a day/nighter. If England bat first, India have no chance. If India win the toss then it remains to be seen whether their seam bowlers will be able to make the advantage of bowling under the lights count. Either way, it's going to be another lottery depending on who wins the toss.

Namibia vs India is on. Let us all pray for an upset.

Hats off to that Namibian fielder for dropping tendulkar, missed an easy catch!!!!! If he would have taken that, india would have been in alot of trouble!!!

Get real Spock. Namibia haven't a hope in Hell of winning this match. It'll be a cakewalk for India.

Well played India.Only bad thing for India from this match could be that they couldnot provide practice for many of their middle order batsmen . Sachin has scored so much in 3 games that may be law of averages will work against him either against ENG or PAK. India doesnt want that.

Well played Sachin,Saurav and Zaheer. :)

congrats to India :k:. this is what i was expecting in Pak vs Namibia.

*Oh come on, this is the World Cup. We have to be positive :k:. And yes, my gut feeling still hasn't went away. Let's hope for the best. People, That Is All.*

Zimbabwe have posted 246/9 against Australia. The Aussies will have a real scrap on their hands to get this, although they'll most likely do it.

Just confirms that pakistan will have a tough final match even if we win against India. Zimbabwe are no pushovers.

damn this gives me goose bumps :crying:

I dont know if any of you saw that shot from Sachin against Namibia which almost killed Pakistani Umpire Aleem Dar.It went like a Bullet and umpire managed to duck and fell flat on ground by fraction of 2nd.Thank God Aleem is young and atheletic.I wonder what would have happened if it was David Shephard.

Here is what Aleem has to say about that incident.

**
Tendulkar drive could have killed me: Pakistan umpire**

Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar offered a prayer on Monday after he narrowly avoided being smashed on the face by a full-blooded drive from Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

Dar ducked in time but fell to the ground as Tendulkar straight drove Namibia’s Bjorn Kotze during yesterday’s World Cup group A match at Pietermaritzburg.

The ball whizzed past the umpire’s head and raced towards the boundary, one of the many shots Tendulkar hit during his knock of 152.

“I could have been killed,” a relieved Dar told AFP on Monday.

"I got saved because of my good eye sight. I still play cricket, you know.

“I have not seen a more powerful drive in my four years of umpiring at the international level,” the 34-year-old Dar said.

Dar dismissed any suggestion of holding a grudge against Tendulkar for the narrow escape.
**
“I actually quite enjoyed the incident,” he said. “Sachin was very apologetic about it and kept saying sorry for the next two overs.” :k: **

Tendulkar said he may have been denied a boundary if the ball had hit the umpire.

“I was looking to hit the ball as hard as possible,” he said. “I connected that particular ball and was glad I got four runs for it.”
