Re: Crazy Rain in Karachi
Hope this time karachi gets another round of showers in the coming week. Record break hojayega 😊
I have little doubt that in the last decade, Karachi would have received rain for at least 2 days.

Re: Crazy Rain in Karachi
That was the year 1967 - the wettest monsoon in recorded history of Karachi - 6 days of rain.
In more recent year - the wettest was 1994 the first rain fell on June 30 followed many times till 6 September.
One day record of all time rain was recorded on 30 June 1977.
"He said Karachi’s record of rains showed that the city had received maximum amount of rain in July 1967 which had totalled 429.3 millimetres. “At least three factors are responsible for the change in the weather pattern of Karachi. First, the increase in the population. Second, the spread of the areas under population. Third, pollution emanating from the industrial localities of the city. In Feb 1979, for instance, the city had received 96 millimetres of rain.”
Re: Crazy Rain in Karachi
I do not remember exactly but it was a winter month in 1973-1976, it drizzled for 4-5 days continuously.
In my childhood rains were even more enjoyable - with plenty of open areas and jungles - we used to play special rain games like garam gari and collected "bir buti" from wet clay of open grounds. When first drop of rains fall in Karachi the dead herb - Blepharis sindica - starts erupting like crackers in open areas.
After few monsoon rains - the local trains passing through Gulistan e Jauher areas used to give a spectacular view - lush green hills and fresh water ponds with loads of frogs and fish!

Re: Crazy Rain in Karachi
If it is going to rain - when the low lying western clouds disappear from Karachi and it remains scorchingly sunny. This mostly leads to rain. I can see the rainy clouds are on Gujrat at the moment and will soon move into lower Sindh and Karachi.
And massive clouds lying over Bay of Bengal - heading NorthWest. They could hit Karachi in 5-6 days.
Re: Crazy Rain in Karachi
Very well elaborated by @Mostar95 Thank you
Karachi seems to be a totally different city now with its natural habitat shrinking to almost none. You only get to see greenery in the zoo or the very few parks in the metropolis. Sad
