Shawshank redemption is not a couple movie anyway. There are a few movies to be enjoyed alone than as a couple.
If you havent watched P.S I love you go for it. Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind maybe?
Stick to romantic movies lol. No need for thought provoking movies how will your mind be provoked and why should it be when you watch a movie with your better half, enjoyment and entertainment should be your only concern.

I beg to differ! A thought provoking film will at least give you something to talk and think about afterwards, as opposed to a no brainer action film for example;). Of course though, it really depends on your mood at the time. Theres a time and place for thought provoking films lol.

I think the time we spend with our loved ones is very special. So it should be valued and each other should be higher priority than talking over disturbing movies. Why would you two then watch a movie together in the very first place. Agree with sazzie there is a time and place for thought provoking movies. and I would rather watch such movies completely alone so that I can understand the movie and enjoy it and not be diverted by the discussion while watching it. The discussion period comes later on. with my life partner i will prefer some light and delightful watch so that I can enjoy his company along with the movie. There shouldnt be room for stress and contemplation and thought provocation. life is already full of it all.
