If he knew his son's record he should have been the first one to report it - he is required to do so under law.
Ok first of all, the CJ did nothing wrong, when it comes to his duty, since he isnt a policemen out to arrest people on streets. Secondly, your whole silly argument in based on the notion that his son DID infact do something wrong, which basically is against the idea of an accused man considered innocent till proven guilty. It is not a CJ's job to go around accusing people and making them stand trial, and the same applies to his son or any jamadaar in Pakistan. So unless you can prove to me that this guy was guilty and did everything right under his papa's nose, maybe then you have a point.
garmihawathandapaani: I completely agree with you. If (let's wait) the CJ knew about his son's fishy business (yet to be proven), then indeed he is a culprit himself as well.
Spock - there are errors of commission and then that of omission. The latter is about not doing something you're supposed to do. The CJ is supposed to do something here and he hasn't.
Yes, it has to be proven that
CJ knew of his son's shenanigans and
The son committed such shenanigans
Now do you really for minute believe that either of these unlikely? Fine.

Ok, even though I still find is hard to grasp why you are blaming the CJ, its just a desperate attempt to malign his character, which I must say has earned a good rep.
Ok, it has yet to be proven, so ever heard the phrase innocent until proven guilty? Maybe his dad was convinced his son didnt do anything wrong? Maybe he didnt know, now dont tell me sons can hide their crimes from their dads. Lastly, a case was filed against him, so this proves you can afterall take action against an influential person's son, which is a marked improvement, and instead of appreciating this move, you guys are attacking the CJ's character.
**President makes Justice Javed Iqbal acting CJP **
President General Pervez Musharraf has filed a reference against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed under section 209 on Friday. He also made Justice Javid Iqbal acting chief justice of Pakistan. The case has been sent to Supreme Judicial Council. According to sources, the charges against Chaudhry Ifthikar included misuse of authority and ignorance of merit in some of the decisions made by him.
Now CJ is fired for this very same act....I guess Judiciary is still not at all free in Pakistan...
Where CJ is involved not even in Nepotism but corrupt appointment of his son to the Police Department...what else is left???
While not condoning whether he knew or got his son appointed to the police department, it is bit rich that the person who illegally asserted himself on the nation now sacks CJ. Ohh!! the irony.
