Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

How can that be?! From 1998 (almost 10 years now!) til now we haven't improved a bit! I suppose 2000 was the best year so far. No rating is better than a rating.

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Sure theres alot of private universities opening but those are just money making ventures. Did any universities on the lines of lums, iba, nust, giki open upafter 1999? No... Infact most of these colleges suffered post 2000 though I dont blame the govt for their own shortcomings.

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Pakistan was 11th last in 1998 and became worse (7th last) in 1999 even when 14 more countries were added in the list. It didn't change in 2001. In 2002 11 more countries were added and Pakistan "improved" the ranking to 11th last. In 2003 31 more countries were added but Pakistan's ranking unfortunately remained same. In 2004, 2005, 2006 situation got even worse when more countries were being added to the list and Pakistan's ranking was still getting worse. In 2007 Pakistan "resumed" its 11th last position but this time there were 179 countries in the list. All this while India maintained its position i.e. 12th (hovering around closely) and in last 2 years it "jumped" its ranking to 22nd.

I have said it before and will repeat it again. "Mega" economic success will only make some people rich, some people richer but without justice, law enforcement we cannot really progress. India despite its economic boom/industrialization for so long couldn't improve its ranking by a good measure.

Their loyalties are to Pakistan

The huge rise in corruption under Mush is hardly a trivial issue

Now now now ... lets look at the bright side here. The more the limelight shines on Pakistan these issues will come to light paving the way for it to be eradicated over time. They persist or even get worse when gone un-noticed.

The more we invite the international community to our home the more we will need to fix our backyard.

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

hey realdeal, good to see you here bro...

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

If you havent noticed, Mushu doesnt give a fiddlers-fart for what the international community thinks so long as he has his throne underneath him... Oh and the spectre of the looming Talibanization of Pakistan to fall back on:)

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Thanks, good to see time has brought our opinions closer together!

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

In these times, its imp for people who support freedom in Pakistan to rally togeth against the supporters of dictatorships... :)

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Does this mean BB does not support freedom in Pakistan, as she is making a deal with the so-called dictator? :)

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

I'm sure he knows when to dance to the fiddlers tune. You can't win'em all can you.

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

Hope so... Because it sound to me like the fiddlers playing a farewell tune..

Re: Corruption at all time high under dictator...

In other thread I wasted my time arguing with some people who had no clue about "ranking" system so I decided to make it easier on everyone. Lets not look on how many countries Pakistan is ahead of or where Pakistan ranks in a table. Our target should be to look at our own score and see how we fared over a period of time. So from Transparency International's website I collected Pakistan's CPI score for different years:

2007 - 2.4
2006 - 2.2
2005 - 2.1
2004 - 2.1
2003 - 2.5
2002 - 2.6
2001 - 2.3
2000 - NO scoring
1999 - 2.2
1998 - 2.7

Its disappointing to see that Pakistan scored 2.7 in 1998 and from there we took a nose dive in 1999 and made slight improvement afterwards in 2002, 2003 but then we slided down again. People think Pakistan is doing better compared to NS/BB era. Unfortunately we don't have ranking of years 1989-1997 otherwise we would've better comparison.
