No where in this thread it is implied that the whole country is responsible. At the same time, please let’s not shun this away as a random incident.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
you have some imagination to all of a sudden come up with that. Before it was all about defending and loving Pakistan…now it’s “i’m not accountable for what random pakistanis do”
and for people saying why post negative articles and why negative articles about pakistanis…welll newsflash…this is a pakistani forum..and why do people share news? or read news?
I do agree that we shouldn’t only focus on the negative and should ourselves try to make a difference, otherwise turning a blind eye to it or excessively posting about it will both not accomplish any good.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
^ I don’t know about other posters but I was definitely not suggesting that people not discuss the problems in Pakistani society, such as domestic violence.
What I don’t understand is this: If people are genuinely interested in discussion of the country’s problems and in spreading awareness, why not also post articles about what people/organisations are doing to help change things in Pakistan in addition to articles such as this one?
**Disclaimer: I’m not even Pakistani, so no love/defense/bias towards Pakistan there. It just seems rather one sided and pointless to me to flog a dead horse and then act surprised when this exasperates people.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
and I agree with that..so instead of revolting against these threads…and wasting time..maybe it’s our personal responsibility to post those positive things if we care so much.
You don’t understand why people make these threads and what they accomplish…I don’t understand why people waste their time constantly trying to berate these threads…what is THAT accomplishing? other than stupid arguments
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
On a lighter note, the title of this thread is rather misleading. I expected this thread to be a trollfest about a disgruntled guy who is frustrated that his neglectful, career woman wife is not cooking for him and him giving her an ultimatum: cook mutton or die! ![]()
That is the problem. No one is doing anything.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
Also, it doesn’t have to be the responsibility of the poster of such articles to provide lists of organizations that are doing positive things. Anyone so motivated should be able to dig this up and post it. That would even things up and one gets to read the negative and positive realities.
One can extrapolate this to any topic - climate change for example. X2 had a solid post on this topic recently.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
“…a lot of men started tweeting this, saying “not all men are like that.” It’s not an unexpected response. However, it’s also not a helpful one…”
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
Great link. It does talk about defensiveness we alluded to earlier here. Instead of protesting “not all men are like that” the article states it is better to listen to the problem. Article goes after the “men’s rights” group - which appears to be an Avenue for men to pile on. Reminds me of a recent thread in which OP alluded to women abusing men being almost the same in number as men abusing women. Warped stats and thinking.
Ridiculous.
People really need perspective here.
How can you hold anyone here accountable? By that logic every single one of us would be accountable for unmentionable atrocities.
And you people want to be treated equally and not be discriminated against. Why? When you cannot even extend thevsame courtesy to each other and your fellow country men?
as for op, what kind of man would compare himself and all his country men with a man who murdered his family? You sound like one of the types who left pakistan and spends all his time talking about what went wrong.
Youre no better than pakistani media. You ask for articles that show us in a positive light but dont contribute yourself and choose to outline the bad lop. Your motives were obvious from ur first post.
If you feel the need to compare yourself to murderers and ponder where it all went wrong, can you please do it in solitude. Coming on here and taking a swipe at most pakistanis is rude. Im quite insulted by what you had to say.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
i already created a thread about good things happening in Pakistan. you all must post the good news on that thread. i am amazed to see that not a single person here have appreciated/commented on the news items i posted over there. that’s the kind of attitude we have i.e. not sharing or positioning the good things and just talking about the negative aspects.
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
Random?
Have you ever seen the stats of Pakistan when it comes to domestic violence, rape and other crimes?
Well then maybe your definition of random is different than my definition of random.
And yes, we should feel bad, less about the crime and more about the victim. Why? Because they are your nation fellow. It still hurts but I care less about a similar crime happened in France, than when it happens to one of our own.
Oh I used the word ‘our’ again. Sorry.
Yes ‘random’. Don’t just look at the mere definition of random, but try to understand it within the context. With a crime happening every few seconds across the world (yes I am going to take it globally and not just limit it to Pakistan, because this is a universal disease and not a Pakistani disease) posting one crime is random. Not for the people involved, but for outsiders it is.
And no I am not implying that that makes it less worse. And neither do I not feel bad for the victim (for the sensation seekers out here).
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
not to derail the discussion here but you know what really amazed me about this incident?
that the couple are so far in their years…I mean he’s 75…aren’t you supposed to mellow out by then?

Then next time chose your words better, because the way you have expressed it right now does imply that somehow we all should feel guilty.

Good that you didn’t dissapoint me with your predictable behavior of throwing meaningless sneers.
How hard is it to understand? This has nothing to do with just posting negative news about Pakistan. It’s about dramaybaaz hoity toity emotions such as our brothers and fathers are beating women and omg I feel bad about being a Pakistani because Asgar from Choorchak who now lives in Vienna whom I don’t know, but all of a sudden he is my chacha because is also Pakistani comitted a crime.

I’ve seen people become a lot more rigid and intolerant..
Also this doesn’t excuse what happened obviously but maybe he had dementia.. I don’t know the details of the story but taking into account his age it’s definitely possible.. His poor wife ![]()
Re: cook mutton tonight or die
But then lahore court incident happened, and it seems that we all are immuned now. It disturbed me but I slept ok last night. I am sure that it did not disturb you that much either.
I wonder why.
Because if people keep stressing and losing their sleep over every crime commited they will lose sanity. It will become mentally and physically exhausting and impossible to live a normal life then.
That doesn’t mean people don’t feel diusturbed by it.
