Re: -- Computer restarts automatically? --

Umer, you do not replace fan inside power supply instead you replace the whole PS unit with a new one.

Re: -- Computer restarts automatically? --

like Todd mentioned, do not even attempt to open the powersupply. buy a new one instead. be aware that there are potentially lethal voltages stored in a switch-mode power supply even when it is unplugged from the mains. Be very careful what you touch, or wear some insulating gloves before messing around inside.

if you do buy a new one, get one with a couple of fans and make sure that it has enough hard drive cables. you can still buy powersupply with no SATA cables. so make sure the one that you buy does have SATA cables (especially if you have SATA HD). If you have fry’s nearby, they have a pretty good collection.

Re: -- Computer restarts automatically? --

I wouldnt recomend opening a PSU unless you know what your are doing. From the psu's i've repaird over the last 2 years or so are ****e quality. The cpacitors are fakes -clone of rubycone mixture just not the right formula and underpowered which adds even more stress. They have been poping in some 24/7 computers after a month. Moral of the story buy a decent PSU: Tagan, Antec True Power, Hipper and Enermax - these should last a reasonable to good length of time. They do cost more but ask yourself if PSu's cost around £50 5 years ago why are they £7 now? remeber material costs have gone up not down.

Re: -- Computer restarts automatically? --

Biggest suspect is usally fans. replace them all while youre at it. Ball bearings fans cost and last a lot longer £8+ for 80mm also quieter but cheap £0.5 sleave bearings are not to bad. A little noiser but most people wont notice. Tese tend to last around 6-8 months in a 24/7 comp in normal use maybe 1-2 years unless you get a dud.

Enermax - All in One Baby - Enermax

Re: -- Computer restarts automatically? --

I replaced the Power Supply Unit today and so far everything seems to be working fine.

Glad to hear that Umer, let us know how things are in a day or so... Todd
