I got hold of many oldies from my elders and collected more from shops in the form of audio cassettes, VCD’s, VHS, CD’s and DVD’s these kind of many many songs from Pakistan (and India). Love them since the music and wordings were so nice.
Some of these videos show how the cities looked like and what people wore back in those days. Kinda historic and interesting.
Masood Rana sang these also which are good to listen to.
-Tere Bina Youn Ghariyan Beetin
Mere Dil Ki Hain Awaz Ke BichRa yaar Milega
(This one has similarity to the song by Rafi… Mera Bichra yaar Mila De…in Punjabi)
The first one again gives me goose-bumps because of the sound of the music and his voice.
NJ also sang it. That is good also.
I want to sing it but can’t find good instrumental for karaoke.
The second, I tried to sing in the voice gallery without music about 1.5 years ago.
You must need a lot of storage to safe keep your collection.
Do you worry about what you will do with it once you get older ?
These days you don’t find qadar-daans who would want these cultural assets, especially if you are outside Pakistan.
-Tere Bina Youn Ghariyan Beetin
Jaisay sadiyaan beet gaein
Mere Dil Ki Hain Awaz Ke BichRa yaar Milega
Mujhay apnay Rabb say aass kay maira pyaar milay gaa
Most of these I have converted to mp3 if I could find the time. And then in to hard drive of a dedicated computer. And few Laptops for backup purpose. And then on an external Hard drive of large storage.
I still have VCR’s for VHS tapes. Some are still packed to be used when they are no longer available.
Many songs and other sound files … are uploaded on my Elan(R) Home entertainment system where I can play any album or song either by wall mounted or desktop controls in any room or bathroom I want. The problem I have is that I have to burn CD’s and upload on entertainment system which is slow and time consuming.
