people on this forum seem extremely conservative compared to the pakistanis i have met in real life. but if people are like this, then definitely indians have it way easier adjusting in the west. atleast 3/4th of every indian couple i know of in the US** picked their own partners*, usually someone they met at school/work, and had simple weddings, **both husband and wife have real jobs. **girls on this forum seem quite out of touch with the real world, to put it mildly../*QUOTE]

Totally agree. Pakistanis have a culture that will not let them move forward in life. We're still stuck doing things as they were done in the 50's honestly.

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

^ So what's stopping you from getting past that culture? If you live outside of Pakistan, there shouldnt be any excuses. If there are, then you are the problem, you let the culture dictate you. Yeah, its really easy to blame it all on poor old culture without realizing the fact that your own goals and ambitions lie pretty much inside the very backwardness that you are trying to blame it all on. No need for scapegoats, own up and take the blame.

Yes, I am Pakistani, but nothing's stopped me from moving forward in life, not even this backward culture you detest. You wanna make ****loads of money, live in a grand house, fall in love with a guy or a girl you fancied and marry him/her, enjoy the lifestyle you dreamed of, you have to have what it takes, be smart, and work to get it. If you blame others for not making it, you are a loser with a capital L.

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

yeah but not everyone has that in them to just say, screw everyone, and do what they want. not to make it about gender, but girls usually have a harder time rebelling against parents esp when they have strict rules. so,no, whatever their ambitions/goals are, they take a backseat to keeping everyone else happy first

I admire any person who is able to take charge and live their life teh way they want, but not every person who doesn't fulfill their ambitions/goals is a loser.....but i have to agree that constantly blaming outside forces gets old after a while....

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

Parents are not the problem. They are usually supportive and I am sure hers are too. Furthermore, parents want what's best for you, and if they dont feel that way its your job to convince them.

Exactly my point, life is unfair, some people excel some people dont, even with equal opportunities. What's annoying is the ones that dont even try and just blame it all on something. It's better to die fighting for something then die whining about it.

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

From what I've seen, they're pretty much the same (assuming they're Muslim of course). I know of Indian girls who are also married to cousins, and whose parents are also strict about them dating and hanging around guys etc. In fact I'd even go as far as saying that Indians are somewhat more conservative than Pakistanis here.

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

if pakistani parents dont want their kids, whether its a gal or a guy, get hurt by getting into any affairs which usually denoted as Love, then we should thank their wisdom.

^I don't think it's so simple or black and white.

zobia...you're paindoo :D

j/k

Re: Compared to Pakistani girls, Indian girls have it easy.

NomiCA...you are saying as if paindoo is something bad. besides, whether we agree to it or not, parents do have more of hands on life experiences and secondary experiences, that they can always relate to. i dont know what perspective rv is relating her comments to, even though she is forgetting that white is already made up of 7 colors.
