Been there. The Colombians are among the friendliest, most outgoing, kind, generous and proud people you will find in any country in the world. Their ability to cope with a 30 year old civil war, indiscriminant bombings, drug cartels, and thugs on the far right and far left is truly remarkable.
The country is so beautiful stretching from majestic mountains to clean, sparkling oceans. If ever they can secure a well-deserved peace and stability, Colombia will be quite a tourist haven which could help lead to a surge in economic development.
“Since 1984, an archbishop, a bishop, 48 priests, three nuns, 35 Protestant pastors and two missionaries have been killed in Colombia’s civil war, according to statistics compiled by the army.” They’ve been in civil war for 39 years now.
