Re: Clothes from 786shop.com
hi,
I think you summed it up pretty well in your last reply ejazasi. I totally agree with you 100% not only because I am too far right now to buy clothes from pakistan but also because the global information society is prospering and I beleive because of such advancements in communication and information technologies such as the internet we should be able to take advantage of this great opppertunity of shopping online. I beleive it's one of the only options which many of us have today when many of us are busy in our everyday lives with no oppertunity to do such shopping. I beleive its more accessible and more convenient for many people around the globe. There should in fact be more sites and oppertunities where we could learn more about the sellers of these websites and ofcorse the only question at the end of the day remains if we could in fact trust the reliability and assurance of such websites that sell pakistani clothes.
Ah, it's true not just one but several (reportedly) members have had bad experiences from Bargello and ZariChannel.com? websites but I can't help but think what would it take to make the online shopping from Pakistan be made credible. Please don't talk about Government. There're many brilliant minds in there but sadly the top positions holders are nothing but dumb idiots. Merchant account services by CitiBank in Pakistan were not only a lot more expensive than the foreign ones but also a lot complicated and irritating. I have little hope from Government in this regard.
Why I say this is because of two reasons:
I truly believe in internet. Internet has already produced empirical data and results which have enhanced our lives if not radically changed. Online Commerce is certainly one of them. Being a full-time worker and a lazy-bone person, I long to see someone putting up grocery items on the net so I could just order them from a website instead of visiting a market for day-to-day consumptions waley items. I can't believe an internet without instant-communication and online-commerce. There're many valid and emphatic reasons why online shopping MUST succeed in Pakistan. One being many people like Neelum can't afford to ask someone in Pakistan or visit Pakistan just for some dress-shopping. Other dresss-designers and boutiques in North America and UK are equally or more expensive than the online ones.
Back in 2002-3, there was hardly anyone in Pakistan willing to sell anything online. DesiStore probably was one of the earliest ones, then came Indusmart, eMarkaz, 786shop and Bargello et al... I have come to know many new websites through Gupshup threads actually. Sure some of the customers have been very satisfied (through their testimonials and similar posts) while some have had bad taste in the mouth. What truly is required from us normal buyers and shoppers is to know which places are more credible and honest, what are the best prices for the said items we need and are available on those credible and honest places and how much variety could the said companies could offer. The real question is honesty and credibility and good business practices. Prices to ooper neechey banda kerwa hi leta hie na ;) If we could have a dedicated forum or platform for online shoppers, I don't have any doubt we can't push online websites to be more transparent, honest in their deals and listen to the voices...
That'd be my 2 cents... You certainly can disagree through your opinion.
