Re: Cleaning the stove

true, then probably its not the rust.. how often do you clean your stove? Try something with bleach but make sure you use proper ventilation while doing so.

Re: Cleaning the stove

Last time i cleaned it was when I first opened this thread. and then last night.

Re: Cleaning the stove

Make sure that this paint is oven cleaner proof and try this method which I noted above:

"If you spray oven cleaner on those spots lavishly to the point that it starts running and leave it there for 30 minutes. You can easily scrub away all kinds of spots. Do not let the oven cleaner dry , if starts to dry , spray some more. Going forward you best bet will be to use aluminum foil to cover all the surfaces where food can spill while cooking or boiling and throw that foil when you are done. "

Re: Cleaning the stove

if nothing works, by a can of white spray form walmart and paint the stains white :D

That would be the last resort , but that painting should be done when moving out of the appartment.

Re: Cleaning the stove

Re: Cleaning the stove

Sara, I am just wondering if the paint layer has come off, leaving those tiny little spots ? :hmmm: … coz i know its happened to mine recently … I cleaned it like a freak and the next thing i notice , the paint has started coming off, leaving similar spots :naraz: …I have done what Mirch suggested … just put the foil on .. and change that regularly …

Yep, some landlords even deduct money from your security deposit even for the holes you make with the nails and screws to hang your picture frames. :bummer:

The key is this, if you are living in an apartment complex, anything breaks or gets worn out due to normal use get it fixed immediately by landlord, so that your apartment will be in top shape when you leave. Do not forget to fill in a work order or whatever paperwork is required to get anything fixed so that you have a paper trail.

Re: Cleaning the stove

Dang. I’ve asked my super if its okay to make holes to put in curtain rods and picture frames, he said yeah go ahead.

We’re gona be super pissed if they charge us

Take heart. It does not happen in all the cases. By law they are allowed to charge for excessive holes which will require filling and repainting.
The holes you make for curtain rods can result in a couple of big holes or a few small ones. You can take those rods off yourself, fill in the holes with putty and touch them up with paint. If you don’t you mind end up getting your security deposit deducted more than it will cost to repair them.

Try Easy-Off oven cleaner...it shoots out a thick foam that dissolves a lot of the mess and you can wipe most of the grease/yukk up
