^^^ Its hard to argue with logic like yours. In that case, what is the use/point of govt?
thats how people with logic like mine think. What the point of govt like this... looto and looto.
Its very easy to pass comments like this, but very hard to face the real situation and praise and take side of government and ignoring any positive action by courts for relief of general public.
^^^ You know there are countries w/o any government or taxes like Afghanistan & Somalia. Which role model would you like to follow?
Believe me this PPP government got all the abilities to make Pakistan like Afghanistan and Somalia (writing these lines from a city, where killing of a dozen people on daily basis is just a score for government authorities).
As far as tax system of Pakistan and tax laws are concerned, I'm very well aware how taxpayer friendly policies this government has given over 5 years. I know how tax machinery works and harass the existing taxpayers. A tax system where all the emphasis is on indirect taxes (on consumption) rather than direct taxes. There is no will this government got for widening the tax net, because it vote banks come from feudal areas and it can't afford annoying those feudals by taxing their huge income. Government's easy target is existing taxpayers and salaried class.
You know when PPP government levied Flood surcharge for just 3.5 months, corporate sector rejected to pay the same and filed petitions with Supreme Court. They were of the view that they will directly give that money in the name of donations to flood victims rather than giving to corrupt government. It was Supreme Court which came with order to pay the same on humanity grounds. CJ is very pro tax department and many lawyers don't want to appear before him in respect of tax petitions.
Chief justice giving observations, rulings and verdicts about
Sugar prices (SC actually “set” the price of sugar)
Gas Prices (this case)
is really insane. Specially “when Chief Justice becoming angry that why ogra sets patrol prices every week” is totally stupid. Petrol/Gas prices are driven mostly by market and f-ing change here every day.
oh yeah, SC will “order the” prices of sugar but it wont name and punish the politicians who took illegal money from ISI.
oh yeah SC can set the prices of CNG but it cant pass strict order and punish the killers in Karachi
oh yeah…
:k:
I totally agree the prices are high and should somehow be lowered and its only poor who are getting crushed but supreme court has no business in setting up the prices for of these commodities. why dont we stop wasting money on govt and elections. Lets CJ run the country on short orders
Macrodamaging the economy? The economy is driven by demand and supply & not by populist decisions of a judge who wants to act like a politician from the bench. What is next? Is he going to set the price or parking meters?
since when talking about country's economy or taking corrective judicial actions against institutions become politics?

Its not judiciary role to take corrective measures or regulate commerce or make economic decisions. The courts role is interpretation of the constitution as it was intended by the authors.

If govt is charging 30 rs more from the people then someone should take the action and He did the right thing......
Exactly, let the ‘demand and supply’ dictate the price, do not tie one resource to another, next thing you know government will tie tax on cars/trucks to price of petrol?
If govt will tie parking meters price to petrol prices then yes SC should dictate that too
