We burn it , we put it in a big body of water like lake , sea or river.We bury it underground . So it is better that these idiots who have no respect for Quran will end up disrespecting it in many other ways burn it and save it from disrespecting it in other ways. Like not reading it and understanding it and throwing it behind their backs.

ALLAH SWT took the responsibility of safeguarding the Quran Himself, the same way He protects His Khana Ka'aba. He will inshaALLAH protect His word and will make the destroyers of His word the same as he did to the people of Elephants (Surah Al Feel)

About the Quran issue, I don't support burning of any book because it is a shameful waste of paper. But consider: Islam preaches against idolatry because human creations (idols) are given the status of Divine. In this case, some people here are making the same mistake by confusing between the book ( a human creation) and the message it contains (Islam). The book is not divine, it is the message which is. Is God's word as fickle as to be damaged by an idiot redneck burning a book ?I wouldn't give so much bandwidth to an Idiot !
I find it rich that you lot easily say ignore this, these are the actions of a few lunatics. 50 people are not a few when they get support from various officials. However when it comes to Pakistan and Islam you lot are ready to insult and cry foul that everybody is evil and should be strung and quartered. I think I got that torture phrase right.

I may be wrong about this, but I read somewhere that the city council has warned him not to make an open bonfire. Even US generals are asking him to stop.

The best way is to completely ignore this guy. No protests, no petitions. That way he won't get a lot of coverage in the US either. *Also, every person killed during protests or rallies will be a confirmation of his argument that Islam is violent. *

hmm interesting same people who agree here that 'the book itself is not divine, it is the message which is', so basically burning it is no big deal, question the idea behind burning a US flag as a protest...oh the irony. its just a waste of a piece of cloth isnt it? after all, the flag itself is not a living country, its the people in it who are. right.
We, as Muslims, should not worry about these 'Quran burning' and 'draw Mohammed' and other such events. Even though it seems like they are only giving negative publicity to Islam and Quran, they are also making people curious as to what is Islam? why is someone burning that book? who is Mohammed? It's like saying "hey, dont think of an elephant, u hear me .. dont you dare think of an elephant." If we look closely, Islam is slowly and gradually spreading in west right in front of our eyes. We, the people of this era, are witnessing proliferation of Islam in the West.
Besides, Prophet Mohammed is not the prophet of Muslims only, that we feel obligated to defend him. He is the prophet of all the universes.

I was jst watching the news...and the Pastor said that the plans have been suspended to burn the Quran....so it is good...he has backed off for the moment...hopefully he stays that way.
