Islam as a pragmatic religion recognises that and thus we have our own set of holidays and festivals.

i thought Islam was a universal religion......why does it have its OWN set of holidays which are pragmatically connected to our culture/society?

Question for the person who said we dont celebrate the birthdates of other prophets because we dont know them. Suppose you did, suppose some Muslim scholar researchs it and it turns out to be the 1st of July. Would you celebrate it?

No, cuz i think the whole concept of a calender is man-made...and i don't see any use in following it except to have an indication where in the year/seasons we stand at that moment

and universality conflicts with pragmatism?
pragmatism, the context in which I use it, is adoptable, applicable for humans. is not Man's creation according to the Quran for the worship of Allah? Why not the edict that every single Muslim become a hermit dedicating himself exclusively to worship?
universality is such a blanket term. i presume you mean it in the sense that it was revealed for the entirety of humanity? Does not universality then actually require the believer to observe only those holidays observed by the entire Ummah? Would a Hindu-revert have the same context for Christmas as a Christian-revert?

All history is man made. It is self evident that dates have no significance inherently, they're only made important by their connection to the event. Should everyone on the planet agree to celebrate that occasion on another date, I would have no problem celebrating Christmas, eid whatever on that date (ofcourse we wont, we have molvies :))
1) What Did Jesus Say About Christmas?
2) Does Christmas have Biblical Evidence?
3) Was Jesus born on Dec. 25?
4) What about Santa Claus?
5) Who Celebrated the Christmas for the first time?

I have few questions:
1) What Did Jesus Say About Christmas?
2) Does Christmas have Biblical Evidence?
3) Was Jesus born on Dec. 25?
4) What about Santa Claus?
5) Who Celebrated the Christmas for the first time?
Please keep it very simple.

Jesus said nothing about Christmas
No
No
Santa has nothing to do with religious matters - is part of the commercialization of Christmas
What can be more imitation than writing in disbeliever’s language on a device invented by disbelievers and probably sitting in a country founded by disbelievers? Are you also getting welfare dollars or punds paid as taxes by disbelievers like your one one-handed and one eyed mullah role model in England?
