Who is worse? Commies or Christian Terrorists?
Christian Terrorists Kill Commies For Christ
CHRISTIAN TERRORISTS KILL COMMIES FOR CHRIST
The Christian terrorist National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) has struck again with the murder of five supporters of the Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPI-M). Three members of one family were killed in a botched kidnapping attempt and two others individuals were killed in separate incidents. NLFT terrorists also kidnapped four activists of CPI-M from Champlai village of west Tripura district. The CPI-M was organized in 1964 by desertion from the Communist Party of India (CPI) of “leftists” favoring a more radical line. The CPI(M) is “the leading Left party … committed to build a Left and democratic front which can present a real alternative to the existing bourgeois-landlord policies.” The emergence of the CPI(M) as a major political force in the State since the early 1990s weakened the terrorists. As such raised the ire of the NLFT. Of late, members and supporters of the CPI-M, the ruling party in the state, have become particular targets of the NLFT. The CPI-M says, “The NLFT has established a bloody record of mass killings, extortion and assassinations of political leaders.”
Tripura has been the scene of thousands of abductions and hundreds of killings over the past several years. Much of this violence has been carried out by the NLFT. The NLFT says it is fighting not only for the removal of Bengali immigrants from the tribal areas, but also for the tribal areas of the state to become overtly Christian. The NLFT does everything in its power to rid the state of non-Christians. The NLFT has been consistently attacking and killing Hindu tribals and forcing them to convert to Christianity at gunpoint as well as banning non-Christian rites. In addition, many Hindu ashrams and religious centers run by the tribals have been destroyed by the NLFT. The NLFT, fighting for an independent tribal homeland since 1989, has issued diktats warning Hindu villagers against celebrating religious festivals.
Tripura is one of India’s seven north-eastern states, sometimes known as the seven sisters. It has a population of around three million - three-quarters of whom are Bengali-speaking settlers. Tripura is a small area that was dominated by nineteen tribes with the characteristics of Southeast Asians. Insurgency in Tripura can be traced to the massive influx of Bengali-speaking refugees from east Pakistan following the Partition in 1947. Tribals now constitute only about 30 per cent of Tripura’s population of 3.19 million. Christians form a meager 10 per cent of the total, while the majority are Hindus.
Since Independence, the area has become the hunting ground for different denominations of the Christian churches for their religious head count through organized and un-resisted conversions. The Tripura government has stated that it has irrefutable evidence about the complicity of the Baptist Church’s involvement in backing of separatist terrorist groups including the NLFT whose manifesto clearly spells out that their objective is to " expand the kingdom of God and Christ in Tripura." Testimony from Nagmanlal Halam, the secretary of the Noapara Baptist Church in Tripura who was arrested for possession of a large quantity of explosives to the tune of 60 gelatin sticks, 5kg of potassium, 2kg of sulfur and other ingredients for making powerful bombs has supported these allegations. Halam confessed to buying and supplying explosives to the NLFT over the past two years. It was two junior members of the same church, that had been arrested earlier who tipped the police off about the explosives which were meant for terrorist organizations like the National Liberation Front of Tripura. Another church official, Jatna Koloi, who was also arrested has admitted that he received training in guerrilla warfare at an NLFT base last year. In addition, the pattern of forced conversions at gunpoint carried out by the likes of NLFT are irrefutably linked to the Baptist Church in Tripura. K.N. Govindachaya of the Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the Baptist Church of Tripura of supporting ethnic cleansing and of trying to expel the Bengali-speaking population of the state. He said that schools, hospitals and voluntary organizations were being forced to close down in disturbed areas of Tripura. But he said institutions associated with the Baptist and Presbyterian churches seemed to be spared.
Tribal Hindus in Tripura have formed vigilante groups to thwart attempts by separatist militants to convert people to Christianity at gunpoint. “It is a very serious threat to Hinduism with armed militants of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura forcibly converting tribal villagers to Christianity,” said Rampada Jamatia, a leader of the Jamatia tribe.
