CHOP CHOP Ladies!

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

alu cutlet recipe anyone? its basically shredded chicken and boiled aloo, mashed together, with whatever spices/masalas used and then breaded and baked/fried?

Sound sgood :yummy:

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

You can make aloo ki tikki, which is like shami kabab.

You boil some potatoes, remove the skin, and mash them after they've cooled. To this you will add finely chopped onion, chilli powder, garam masala, salt, finely chopped hara dhania, cumin seeds, crushed coriander seeds, and finely chopped green chillies.

^Mash the above mixture with your hands (faster and more effective) until most of the lumps have gone. Then you take some of the filling in your hand and shape it into a tikki. When you're shaping them....make sure your hands are a little wet....because it prevents breakage when frying. After shaping, dip into beaten egg and fry like a shami kabab.

Another option:

Boil potatoes, remove sking, mash them up with the same ingredients from above. And add shredded chicken as well. Shape into mini oval rolls. Coat in bread crumbs and fry.

Psquared: Aloo tikki is another word for a potato pattie, potato cutlet, potato pancake....etc.

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

another thing I tried once was using those Pillsbury crescent rolls which come in a paper can like thing...(available in the refrigerated foods aisle)...
just take them out of the fridge...put some cheese and/or boiled chicken/or keema while folding them up and bake them acc to the directions on the can...they taste yummy...!!
I found them easy and quick as I did not have to thaw it before using and we always cheese etc at home ,so easy peasy...:)

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

Tuna sandwiches, anyone?

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

If you're making it in the first way that I described (the shami kabab style)...then you'll take an egg, crack it, and beat it. Then wet your hands a bit, form the circular aaloo tiki and dip it the beaten egg (like a shami kabab) and shallow fry until golden in a frying pan.

For the second option....you just use bread crumbs. Try the first option...it's more consistent than the second one.

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

frozen hors d'oeuvres that you can throw in the oven and green chutney.
green chutney is super easy to make- its just hara dhania, podina, green chilis, and some water, zapped in a blender.

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

I dont know if it's an option for you guys, but some grocery stores here sell these ready-made salans, like palak paneer, channa masala, etc.. they're not expensive either , i'm sure they wont be as good as something made from fresh, but hey worth a try no!

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

Reha,

In the pantry, we have these oval shaped garlic pita crackers. They look like hardened slices of french bread. They're fancy looking and only cost two dollars some. You can find it in the gourmet/bakery aisle of the grocery store. Another good item to have at home is cream cheese...simply because it lasts a long time.

You can spread a layer of cream cheese on the pita bread wedges....and garnish the top with some diced tomatoes or cucumbers or olives. You can even have one of each topping so that it looks colorful. And then serve it on a pretty dish and you're good to go.

Re: CHOP CHOP Ladies!

umm no they really suck. I tried a few by this co called MTR, and they were horrible....id rather order pizza
