at what age do u think its ok to give your child a soft drink or chocolate?
when we go anywhere and kids are eating chocolate, people will say "give one to Heba..." and i insist she doesnt like them.. but they insist she have one... but she always gives them back. Personally, i think she just doesnt have a sweet tooth..
also, she doesnt have soft drinks, nor asks for one even if we are having it.
I see lots of kids starting at young as 1 and their parents say "agar na dein tho maangthe hain.. tho issileeye hum pehle hi de dethe hain..." and im thinking... be a parent and say "no"... nahin?
Im hoping Heba wont start till at least 4-5... but people tell me, if other kids are all having it, she will feel left out. So far, she hasnt complained, thank goodness.
What is ur take on it? Im petrified of dentists... hence the reason i dont want to start her on it. I was 6 the first time i had my fillings... OUCH!
I think your stance on it is good. There is no need to give kids chocolate/soda without them asking, and your lucky she is not interested. My son also doesnt care for chocolate or anything chocolatey either....but he does want soda if he sees us drinking, so we just try not to drink soda in front of him. Its good to offer them milk/water and some juice. definitely dont want him getting any cavities so young. If she does ever want soda and demands it, perhaps give her a little diluted with water.
