Re: Chinese Desserts Anyone?

BF you are not too late. Dinner is next weekend. Since I haven’t made any of these recipes before. I might try experimenting with them over this weekend so we don’t have any mishaps on dinner night.

Jazak Allah Khair much for sharing the recipes. I haven’t been making a lot of desserts lately. Its time I started. Fried ice cream sounds fun too.

Below are the suggestions. Have to pick one now.

Battered deep fried fruit with Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce

Steamed ginger milk pudding

No bake cheesecake squares with jelly

Fruits with jelly

Chinese doughnuts

Deep fried ice cream

Ice cream with cinnamon fried biscuits.

I am inclined towards trying the ginger pudding or fried ice cream with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

I am not too sure about the steaming bit in the ginger pudding. What if to make my work easy I just buy regular caramel pudding mix & while cooking my milk I add ginger juice in it & then just let it set in the fridge?

Do you guys that will be a good idea?

Re: Chinese Desserts Anyone?

you can try making a sample batch of the ginger pudding with almost no effort and time, and tweak it with maybe some cardamom, kewra etc to desify it if you find it too monotone for desi palates..

or mm given how “authentic” the rest of the menu is to real food chinese ppl eat, just make dark kheer, light kheer, and combine to make panda faces in a bowl :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Chinese Desserts Anyone?

Thank goodness for the fact that I know what role the ingredients you mentioned play when it comes to infusing their flavor in food so thank you but no thank you

There will be plenty of opportunities to go “authentic” on the menu in the future. We are going to be meeting these couples for the second time. Although they seem to be people open to to the idea of trying various cuisines, I would like to play its “safe” & still keep the “desi” palette in mind. Hence my choice of dishes.

Re: Chinese Desserts Anyone?

I say…go for deep fried ice-cream with drizzle of chocolate sauce, and use cinnamon biscuits for the outermost coating. If you can do it for 8 people, because it needs to be served warm.

Im not so sure about chinese doughnuts, doughnuts arent exactly dessert are they?

Re: Chinese Desserts Anyone?

I’m gonna do a Chinese menu for a dinner party soon too. Gonna try your toasts BN -they look lovely!
