I heard thugs from Banaras were famous. There is this guy Raza Ali Abidi (BBC Broadcaster) who wrote books on his journey on GT Road (in Pakistan, India and Bengladesh). He recently wrote a book on Thugs and their history. he book contains a novelette on famous thug Ameer Ali.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Charsi of Namak Mandi Peshawar is famous for his tikkay and bbq.
Not sure if charsi also opened a shop in lahore.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

gujranawala main shebaz k tikkay mashoor hain.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

yes, we were confused and sorted that charsi is basically in namak mandi of Peshawer.

BTW, I forgot but Kishwar Naheed in her book mentioned a famous tikka wala in Lahore as well and her guests from Karachi loved to go their whenever they visited Lahore

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

chicken tikka or chira tikka?

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

chirra tikka nai, batairay. that was great in taste.
another time i tried mutton tikka, that was not that tasty. strange thing is, his mutton tikka was with bones.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

depends when and where in lahore. there are many shops also depends if u like he taste or not.
Like some people find bhaiya's kabab too dry.
PS: Namak Mandi in lahore is no way close to namak mandi taste in peshawar.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

so there is Namak-mandi in Lahore as well?

How did you find charsi ka tikka? what was special about that tikka?

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

mutton may be used for sajji, but for tikka it sounds tasteless at the very beginning.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Yes there is one in faisal town i think… it use to be in 2010 and one is in cantt or gulberg.
lived in peshawar for 2 years
donno if its the chars or the meat but it was :yummy:

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Why is called Charsi Tikka, do they include chars in the marinade? I'm assuming it's one those 'do not try this at home' recipes. Do you get high after eating these? Oooh ex-citing.

I want to try this delicacy now.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Nah nothing like that.... owner of the shop was charsi. Now its run by his son or sons.

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Hahah. That's so cool.

I wonder if poor sons were asked this:

*"Oye, why your shop's called charsi"

"Man my dad was a charsi, that's why"

*

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

Its name might have changed to Charsi and Sons now :D

Re: Charse ke tikke (Attention: Lahoris)

No its Nisar Charsi and the board read as : Nisar Charsi Tikka.. yehi asli charsi hai.. baqi jo charsi hai wo 2 number charsi hai :hehe:
