newaar nahiiN bal k nevaaRh ... it comes in a roll which is about 2 inches wide and it's like a strip made with cotton but now it's made with Nylon...which is woven in a cross-stitch...

i couldn't find it either...these days in India, those rental companies use nylon strip steel cots for shaadii rentals...these are folding frames with nylon strips and made from light weight hollow steel. it's very popular in India.

whats problem in that.. Manji comes in all size.. single bed size.. double bed size ;)

I don’t like the idea of double bed size manji. It should only be personal size. I don’t like sharing my manji.

as a matter of fact, they were used only on high quality Massehris...now since messehris are themselves are becoming extinct, naturally the need for cotton nevaaRh is also disappearing. did you know that it was quite a hassle to tighten the neevaaRh when they sagged after a prolonged usage. i remember doing that with my servant when i was a kid.

Yes. I used to sleep on a nevaarh charpai and my grandmother had a nevaarh massehri with ornate headboard and a small mirror in the middle.
And yes I have seen the tedious process of tightening the nevaarh also. :)

good that you have also seen the old fashioned charpais and massehris and others. there were so many different kinds of chaipaiis for diferent purposes.** i think we’ve the world’s most richest ‘charpai heriatge’!**

Vaisay, I think single bed manji is great as a matrimonial bed, but otherwise manji apni apni hi achchi, even for married people.
