Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

This has always been the case - more or less! But these days no hockey base in this country. Hockey grounds are deserted. We used to have at a dozen hockey club in our Mohallah. They all have disappeared now. Sohail Abbas belonged to one of those clubs, I think - the Pak Flag HC.

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

Pak Flag is no longer there.

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

its all cricket now. cricket players get millions of rupees even after putting up crappy performances and millions in rewards and wht not. and hockey players get wht? 200-300 rupees / day that too if they attend the training sessions and get something like 2500-3000 / match. thats not even close to the price of the shoes shoaib use which are around 350 pounds / pair. :halo:

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

the way hockey is declining , few years later there won’t be any hockey any longer aswell. we should put hockey on endangered species list :halo:

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

CURRENT MATCH STATUS: The rain has picked up further, and turned into a rainstorm. Play is suspended as the pitch starts to flood.

so in case of play abandoned..will it be a draw or a win for GBR?

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

***** PLAY SUSPENDED FOR RAIN *****

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

It will be a draw!

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

But this is equatorial rain! Almost a daily routine in the afternoon. It will stop soon and the pitch being an artificial one will soon be ready for play again.

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

yeah? chalo maybe things will brighten up for pak after resumption of the play. i seriously hope so.

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

i remember few years ago [4-5years...if i'm not mistaking] germany introduced some new young talented players in their team. that introduction brought in mixed results, with few wins, many loses and some early knock outs in tournaments. but that plan is now paying dividends. currently germany is the leader in on-going CT. and have showed excellent results in the last year or so. tells a lot about long term planning n strategies. they took risks [calculated] and now results are showing. why can't PHF take risks and come up with concrete plans/strategies to re-establish hockey in pak and its status in world as a force to be reckon with.

Re: Champions Trophy begins in Kuala lumpur

more headaches for TEAM PAK.

63' With Pakistan two men down, the play is totally in their defensive half. GBR are besieging the circle, but are not in a rush to score any more goals.

62'*** **A GBR player is hit in the face by a stick or an elbow. The flow of the game is slow to resume after the rain interruption... **

61' PAK Captain and goalkeeper Salman AKBAR receives a yellow card, possibly because there were too many players on the pitch. There is some confusion around the Technical Table. Reserve GK Nasir AHMED is now in goal for PAK.
