so PAK manages to beat MALAYSIA for the 7th spot by a score of 3-2 [extra time, golden goal rule]. this means PAK won’t be playing in the next CT in holland. very poor performance by team pak. shame on them for such a lousy show.

I still remember the finals in 1978 world cup - we watched that match on TV, In those days there was no dish and PTV had to buy time from some foreign satellite, so we could watch only the later part of the match, we listened to the first half on radio. Islahuddin was the team captain. Pakistan won that WC final against Holland 3-2, a swinging game of ups and downs with Pak drawing first blood , holland equalizing then taking lead, then pakistan equalizing and finally scoring the winner.
And the feeling after the match cant be described, it was the middle of the night and everyone was jubilant, people went out of homes and congratulated each other out in the streets. We, the kids, were also allowed to stay up late and participated in all that fun afterwards.
Good old days.......
brings tears to the eyes at this pathetic state of pakistan hockey team where now they have to QUALIFY to play the champions trophy.

The only tournament that Pakistan will play next year is the olympics games. Given the present weakness of this team, I would suggest that they should not go to play the olympics. Another wooden spoon waiting for them.
